Kidney and Bladder complaint*, has met
with almost instantaneous success be¬
cause it lias made some noteworthy
cures of very severe cases.
Mr. John Post, of the Atlanta Fire

“ For months I suffered with my kid¬
neys. I made every effort to get relief,
but failed until I accidentally came in
posees-sion of a bottle of Black Weed.
The relief obtained from its use was no
great before half the first bottle had

medicines and am now sound and well,
having been cured completely by Black

COLLARDS AS FOOD FOR HOGS.
A Farmer Who Believes He Has
Solved the Problem.
Mr. Jasper Math's, one of the
small but successful farmers of
Lowndes, was in the city this
week and called at the Timos of¬
fice. In discussing coriUitions of
his farm, he said :
“l might tell you a little some¬
thing that would help some fel¬
low-farmer along if he will adopt
the suggestion given. One of
tho barrier’s to hog raising in this
section is tne difficulty in keep¬
ing them healthy and growing
from spring until fall, or through
the summer months My neigh¬
bors say that I have solved the
problem, and here is the way I
do it:
•‘I remember feeding old blue
stem collard leaves to the hogs
when 1 was a boy, and I used to
hear the old farmers say that
col'ards was the best food for
hogs and cows. List January I
planted seven rows of collards, in
rows about 40 yards long, and I
am now feeding thirty.one head
of hogs, one cow, one Texas po¬
ny, and have plenty left for table
use, and ihere is no end to the
s ipply.
“I give two baskets full of
leaves to the hogs, night and
morning, one basket full to the
cow at night. About once a week
1 cook all the hogs will eat and
add salt, soda and syrup, or mo¬
lasses, and a hand full of sulphur
One acre of collards will make ev¬
er so many tons of hog feed, and
the expense of growing them is
very small.”
Mtv Mathis says that he has
the healthiest pig9 he knows of
and ho attributes it to the collard
diet which he gives them and to
the occasional meal of cooked
collards, with the salt, etc,, in it.
Mr. Mathis says that Mr. J. W.
Harrell gave him the recipe for
making a liniment of tar and lard
that will kill all of the lice or oth¬
er insects that bother the hogs.

Dove Season Open.
The season for shooting doves
opened on Friday, July loth, and
sportsmen ate now at lib¬
erty to pursue that pastime
without violating tho law. The
last legislature changed the data
for the season’s opening to July
15th, though it has heretofore
been August ,15th.
* It is now unlawful to shoct
doves between Mai eh 15th, and
July 15th.
It is unlawful to kill or trap
more than forty doves in one day.
It is unlawful for any person
except on his own land, to kill
any doves for sale unless he gets
a license from the ordinary of
the county for so doing.
A Very Close Call.
“I stuck to my engine, although every
joint ached and every nerve was racked
with pain," writes C. W. Bellamy, a lo¬
comotive fireman, of Burlington, Iowa,
“I was weak and pale, without any ape
tite and all run down. As I was about
to give up, I got a bottle of Electric Bit¬
ters, and after taking it. I felt as well as
I ever did in my life.” Weak, sickly,
run down people always gain new life,
strength and vigor for their use. Try

Hcn.O. B. Stevens,
sloner of agriculture and
Chemist John M. McCandless
have a special report on food
adulteration in the state of
gia, which is full of information
as to the way most of our foods
and liquids are adulterated. It
seems that our state should have
a law prohibiting 3uch danger to
the health of its citizens. The
state chemist has drawn a bill
modeling it upon the national
pure food bill which has passed
the lower house of congress.
Hon. P. A. Stovall, of Chatham,
is actively championing the bill.
—Searchlight.
Let the senate now pass it and
then let the governor make it a
law by his signature.

Albany Herald: If the Geor¬
gia railroad commission doesn’t
do something, or some of the
things that the people want done
pretty soon, it is going to hear a
howl that will be anything but
pleasant.
If there’s an institution in
Georgia this year not asking for
an increased appropriation it is
yet to be heard from. The State
Sanitarium wants an increase of
about $50,000; the State Board of
Health $10,000; the Technolog¬
ical School an increase of $23,000;
the Deaf and Dumb Asylum sev¬
eral thousand increase; in fact
the whole list might be called and
each be placed in the want col¬
umn. In the meantime the tax
rate has been limited. The only
method to safely be pursued is to
use the knife vigorously against
those institutions where i n
creases are not too imperative;
and to shut off the creation of
new departments with new offices
to be filled at public expense.—
Bainbridge Searchlight.
Gut out all unnecessary ex¬
penses is the thing to do, as well
as shutting out the creation of
new departments, like that immi¬
gration bureau.
