Council Proceedings.
Camilla, Ga., Aug, 2, 1908.—Council
met in regular session.
Present, Mayor Palmer, Councilman
Dasher, Watt, Tumor, Joiner and Perry.
Minutes of previous meeting read and
on motion adopted.
Marshal made monthly report. Fine
collected, G. W. Swindle, Jr., $5. Re
port accepted.
On motion Mavor was requested to
appoint a committee to investigate wood¬
en room on rear of brick store belonging
to J. B. Acrce, as to ascertaining wheth¬
er or not said room should be removed
for the protection of the adjoining build¬
ings against fire. The Mayor appointed
Street committee to look after this mat¬
ter.
t)n motion Council went into an in¬
vestigation of appeal case of Jim Swin¬
dle. After hearing evidence in this case
council sustained sentence of Mayor
Palmer. All other appeal cases were
continued to next regular meeting, mid
all parties interested in said eases were
ordered to be ready for trial at next reg¬
ular meeting.
Oil motion of Councilman Turner or¬
dinance for water works, electric lights,
etc., he amended so as to read, principle
and interest of bonds, lie payable in
New York.
On motion ordinance for the establish¬
ment of a system of water works, elec¬
tric lights and for the payment of bond¬
ed debts of the town was read third
time and adopted.
Whereas, an election to determine
whether or not bonds in the sum of
twenty thousand dollars to be used for
the establishing and acquiring a system
of water works, and establishing and
acquiring a system of electric lights, ft r
die town of Camilla and for paying t if
the present outstanding indebtedness of
said town, lias been called. Now there¬
fore be it; I. Resolved, by the Mayor
and Council in regular meeting assem¬
bled, this August 1, 15)04, that a commit¬
tee consisting of three members as fol¬
lows: Dr. H. C Dasher, J. C. Turner
and F. S. Perry be and they art* hereby
appointed to open as soon as said eieetii u
is advertised a registration book for the
registration of all qualified voters. Said
book shall be kept ojien at office of clerk
of council, from < a. m. to 5 p. m. each
day, Sunday excepted, who shall be en¬
titled to register for voting in said ele< -

District to the General Assembly of the
State of Georgia to introduce and have
passed, at this session of the General
Assembly, a bill to repeal the Act ap¬

by which amendment it was provided
that the Mayor and Council of said town
shall not have power and authority to
issue license to any person whatsoever
to sell ardent spirits, malt liquors, wines,
eiders, or other intoxicants within the
corporate limits of said town except up¬
on the written consent of two-thirds of
the bona fide resident freeholders of
said town owning real estate within the
corporate limits of said town.
