Mr. Geo. C. Cochran, of Flint,
was here Monday. Mr. Cochran is
president of the new bank and
will make Camilla his home in

The remains x>[ Mr. John Hutto
who died at the sanitarium at
Milledgeville, arrived in Camilla
Sunday, enroute to his father’s
home in the southern part of the
county.
Dr. Isaac A. Bush, and sis¬
ter, Miss Calista, left Monday
for Lynchburg, Va., where Miss
Calista will enter college. Dr.
Bush will then visit Baltimore
and return to Camilla.
Rev. L. 0. Lewis, a former cit¬
izen of Mitchell county, but who
has been located in Arizona a
number of years, was shaking
hands with relatives and friends
here during the past week. Rev.
Lewis preached two excellent
sermons at the Methodist church
Sunday, and gave an interesting
lecture Monday night on the con¬
ditions in Arizona.
We are sorry to know that our
friend Mr. J. F. Clark has

to join him in Columbus
they will reside in the fu¬
ture.
We are paying for an arc light
at the depot, one of the most im¬
portant places in town to have a
light, as two passenger trains
arrive now after dark. This
light hasn’t been on for some¬

A wedding of considerable in¬
terest occurred last Wednesday
morning at the home of Mrs- L

of Camilla, when her daugh¬
ter, Mrs. Lula Crosby and Mr.

Droppei Lead.
While waiting at the depot
Monday afternoon for the 5
o’clock train, Bob Battle, one of
Camilla’s most respected colored
citizens, sank suddenly to the
ground and died within five min¬
utes. The death is supposed to
have resulted fi om heart disease.

DESTROYED BY FIRE.
Important Fapers and Records
Lost—Fire Supposed to be
of Incendiary Origin,.
Colquitt, Ga., Oct. 9.—The
court house here was burned this
morning at 3 o’clock. Many im¬
portant papers and records were
destroyed by the flames.
The fire is supposed to have
been of incendiary origin, two
previous attempts having been
made.
The old Wi'k’n homestead was
also burned last night, catching
from a stove flue, —Albany Her¬
ald.
