THE NEW COUNTIES.
Chairman Yeomans Makes In¬
teresting Statement at Savan¬
nah.
Hen. M. J. Yeomans, chairman
of State Democratic Executive
Committee, who wa9 in Savannah
last week, made some interesting
statements with reference to the
new county movement. He is
quoted as follows by the Savan¬
nah correspondent of the Atlanta
Constitution:
“Chairman M. J, Yeomans, of
the State Democratic Committee,
says there has been talk of but
five out of the seven new counties
provided for. Out of the five,
three are in South Georgia and
one of these in the First congres¬
sional district. ,
“ ‘The new county in this dis¬
trict,’ said Mr. Yeomans, ‘is in¬
tended to have Millen in Screven
county, as the county site. This
county is intended to be formed
from parts of Screvtn, Burke and
Emanuel. Millen now is party in
Screven and partly in Burke.
“‘The other South Georgia
counties are to have as their
county sites Baxley, in Appling
county, and Whigi.am, in Deca¬
tur.
“ ‘The county having Baxley
as its county site will probably be
formed of portions of Appling and
Tattnall.
“ ‘Whigham will be the county
site of a county formed mainly
from a part of Decatur county.
It may be that parts of Thomas
and Mitchell will be included.’
“Mr. Yeomans attributed the
defeat of the Democratic parly
to tiie fact that there was a desire
on the part of the people to make
no change in the administration
so long at the country was pros¬
perous. Democratic success, he
said, depended on the withdrawal
of the planks conciliatory to the
tru-ts and the moneyed inter¬
ests.

Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy Is
Pleasant to Take.
The finest quality of granulated loaf
sugar is used in the manufacture of.
Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy, and the
roots used in. its preparation give it a
flavor similar to maple syrup, making it
quite pleasant to take. Mr. W. L. Rode¬
rick, of Poolesville, Md., in speaking of
this remedy, says: "I have used Cham¬
berlain’s Cough Remedy with my chil¬
dren for several years and can truthful¬
ly say it is the best preparation of tie
kind I know of. The children like tv
take it and it has no injurious after ef¬
fect. For sale by Lewis Drug Co.
Children in The Country To Be
Hauled To School.,
Hawkinsville, Ga.. Oct. 29.—
The experiment of hauling the
children to school in the sparsely
settled districts of the county will
be tried this winter. A number
of wagons properly fitted up,
horses and drivers will be fur¬
nished by the county and regular
routes mapped out to be covered.
As this county already has one
of the best systems of rural
schools in the state, it is thought
that with this improvement they
will take such a decided step for
ward that they will be well nigh
perfect.
