Mrs. \llen Entertains,
On Wednesday afternoon of
last week from 3 to 5 o’clock the
Ladies’ Pleasure Club was most
charmingly entertained by Mrs.
W. A. Allen.
It was a gay crowd of matrons
and young ladies, that met in the
beautiful parlor, and forgetting
care, enjoyed social chat for a
time, after which all were invited
into an adjoining room for a prize
contest.
Each lady drew from a basket
a slip of paper with the name of
an animal on each, and then had
to draw a picture of the animal
on a blackboard.
Amid peals of laughter, each
one did her best to secure the
prize. A vote was taken, and
the drawing of Miss Lota Spence
was declared the most natural,
and she captured the prize, a
embroidered handkerchief.
The ladies then filed into the
which was beauti¬
decorated in autumnal fo¬
liage and flowers, and thoroughly
enjoyed a delicious salad course,
with tea and hot coffee.
After returning to the parlor a
short business meeting was held
and three new names were added
to the roll. It was announced
that on Wednesday Nov. 23rd,
from 3 to 5 o’clock, Mrs. M. F.
Brimberry would entertain the
Club at her home on Broad street.
As a hostess Mrs. Allen is both
charming and gracious. With
many thanks to Mrs. Allen for a
pleasant afternoon all took their
departure. A Pleased Guest.
