Some time or other things are sure to come your way. Repub¬ licans will make horrible mis¬ takes. The people resent it. Wait. Lie low. Don’t fret. Cultivate quiet. Mum’s the word. The hubbub of the late election is over. It was like a convention of organ-grinders. “You’d think it was a discord sent from some infernal clime, to clip the wings of sentiment and break the legs of time, and crack the voice of melody and dock the tail of rhyme.” If our democratic friends could keep perfectly still for the next year or two, it would be worth millions to them.” Fight Will Be Bitter. Those who will persist in clos¬ ing their ears against the contin¬ ual recommendation of Dr. King’s New Discovery for Consumption, will have a long and bitter fight with their troubles, if not ended earlier by fatal termination. Read what T. R. Beall, of Beall, Miss., has to say: “Last fall my wife had every symptom of consump tin. She took Dr. King’s New Discovery after everything else had failed. Improvement came at once and four bottles entirely cured her.” Guaranteed by Lew¬ is Drug Co Price 50c. and SI.00. Trial bottles free. Preacher Williams says news¬ papers print news—and if there is no news they manufacture some. Some preachers preach the gospel—and if they run out of gospel they jump on someboly and bless ’em- out.—Nashville Herald. A railway mail clerk requests that newspapers call the atten¬ tion of their readers to the im¬ portance of putting up Christmas presents in sefcure packages. Numbers of them, he says, come loose before they reach their des tination, causing the clerks a greal deal of unnecessary labor, besides having the package ar¬ rive in an unsightly and often damaged condition. He suggests that a shoe or a corset box era breakfast food carton makes a package of convenient shape for handling in the mail. It of course should he securely tied with strong twine and plainly marked, having the sender’s address in the upper left hand corner. Edi¬ tors who desire, to help out the mail clerks in this matter can get suggestions from postmasters as to the proper method for putting up packages intended for the mails.—American Press. Beware Of Counterfeits. “DeWitt’s is the only genuine Witch Hazel Salve” writes J. L. Tucker, of Cenre, Ala. “I have used it in my fam¬ ily for Piles, Cuts and Bums for years and can recommend it to be the best Salve on the market. Every family should keep it, as it is an invaluable household remedy, and should always be kept on hand for immediate use.” Mrs, Samuel Gage, of North Bush, N. Y., says: “I had a fever sore on my an¬ kle for twenty years that the doctors could not cure - All selves and blood remedies proved -worthless. I could not walk for over two years. Finally I was persuaded to try DeWitt’s Witch Hazel Salve, which has completely cured me. It is a wonderful relief.” DeWitt’s Witch Hazel Salve cures without leav¬ ing a scar. Sold by Lewis Drug Co. BeWltrs'ttSalve For Piles, Burns, Sores* If our subscription list were as large the number of families who read our paper, our income would be increased quite percep¬ tibly. So common is the custom of reading some one’s paper that our attention is called to it nearly every day, a id it really surprises us occasionally to learn thatgomo who are abundantly able to sub¬ scribe and who by good reasons ought to have an interest in the success of the paper, will wait four or five days each week for a ser-ond-handed copy instead of having their names placed on the list. The worst part of it is that many of the borrowers are the ones who knock on us continual¬ ly, yet if they missed seeing it a single week they would wear out a quarter’3 worth of shoe leather hunting a subscriber who would loan his paper to them. We get more than a little satisfaction, however, out of hearing that our subscribers and friends occasion ally turn down these gub3 as they should be. We don’t expect everyone to take our paper nor agree with us in all things, but to those who borrow we would say, if you have inte.est in this city and what we work hard every week io publish in the interest of her people, don’t your conscience l\prt you a little when you eager¬ ly scan the columns of a paper for which you have not paid?— Ex. Americus Times-Re c o r d e r: Farm work is hard, but brings the glow of health to thousands who would slowly perish away in cities.
