Judge A. S. Johnson, of Villa Park,
Illinois, arrived in Camilla last week
to spend several days' visiting old
home folks. Judge reports his wife

at a lovely afternoon party at her
country home at Hopeful on Friday
afternoon in honor of Miss Irene
Ivey, at Cuthbert, whose wedding
will be an important social event of
the month The. house was beauti¬
fully decorated throughout with flow¬
ers from the home garden, quantities
of zinnias, shasta daises and poppies,
being attractively arranged in vases
and bowls. Tables were arranged for
playing Rook, which was the popular
diversion of the afternoon.
After the game a delightful salad
course and iced tea were served as
refreshments. Mrs. Faircloth was as¬
sisted in receiving and serving by
Mrs. B. H. Hurst.

At the regular weekly luncheon of
the Camilla Lions Club held last Fri¬
day at the New Camilla Hotel, Col.
R. E. L. Spence and Mr. D. L. Beatie,
of Albany, were guests of the club
and offered suggestions for the for¬
mation of an organization covering
eight or ten Southwest Georgia coun¬
ties the purpose of which would be to
work jointly in advertising this sec¬
tion in the North and West, No defi
nite plans have been worked out as
yet ’ Col. Spence stated that he
and Beatie had given some
thought to the plan and that they
were convinced that it could be car
ried out. with success. The proposal
was received with favor by the Lions
Club. The president of the club,
Col. E. M. Davis, was authorized to
act for the club with the organizers
and Dr. C. 0. Rainey and Mr. P. E.
Bailey were appointed on a commit
tee to confer with business men in
other parts of Mitchell county and get
