came over the latter part of last week

bany, were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
D. V. Thompson Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Davis and chil¬
dren left Saturday for Tifton, where
they are moving, Mr. Davis having
decided to locate there. The good
wishes of their many friends follow
them to their new home.

Katherine Fleming and Miss Rachel
Peabody have returned home after a
delightful motor tour on the Florida
west coast, visiting Tampa, St. Pet¬
ersburg and other places.
Mr. W. 0. Hilliard, of Orange City,

a congenial party leaving here Wed¬
nesday for Atlanta and the Carolinas,
where they will spend a week or so

Mr. G. Bemad Moore, editor of the
Sparta Ishmaelite, spent Saturday in
the city. While here, he was the
guest of Col. and Mrs. J. D. Gardner.
Mrs. Mollie S. Baggs and little
Miss Nancy Stripling are expected
home tomorrow from Tallahassee,
Fla., where they have been spending
some time visiting Mr. D. F. Baggs
and family.
Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Sheppard and
children, of Punta Gorda, Fla., spent
the week-end here with Mr. and Mrs.
L. E. Freeman and family. They
were on their way to Montieello, Ga.,
to spend their vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Bullard spent
Saturday night and Sunday in Face
ville with relatives and brought home
their daughters, Misses Laurine and
Grace Bullard, who have been spend¬
ing several weeks there.
Miss Mary Stevens is leaving today
for Miami, Fla., where she will go in¬
to business as modiste. Her many
friends are indeed sorry to see her
leave Camilla but wish her much suc¬
cess in her new work.
Mr. Charlie B. West, of Miami, Fla.,
and sister and brother, Miss Mary
B. West and William West, of Monti¬
eello, Fla., came up to spend the
week and visiting, their sister, Mrs.
J. M. Gore.
Mrs. A. H. Gore left Wednesday
for Hazlehurst, going from there to
Brooksville, Fla., to bring her moth¬
er, Mrs. Ij E. Barnes and three chil¬
dren to Camilla to spend a while vis¬
iting Mrs. Gore.
'Mr. and Mrs. Paul Norris are re¬
ceiving the profuse congratulations
of their many friends over the arrival
of a fine baby daughter Wednesday
morning at the home of Mrs. Nor¬
ris’ mother, Mrs. W. B. Ward, here
where Mr. and Mrs. Norris are visit¬
ing.
Mrs. Leon Perry and daughter, Ca
lista, Miss Martha Perry and Mr. Ed¬
gar Bush composed a party going to
Statesboro Monday to visit Mrs. Geo.
T. Groover for a day or so, leaving
Calista Perry to spend several weeks
visiting her aunt, Mrs. Groover.
Mrs. C. B. Cross and young son,
and her mother, Mrs. H. Mock, of Val¬
dosta, have been spending several
days in the city visiting Mrs. Mock’s
daughter, Mrs. J. G. Bailey. They
went up to Albany Wednesday to visit
relatives there.
Misses Kate and Mary Manry re¬
turned home last week from Miami,
Fla., where they spept several weeks
visiting their sister, Mrs. Felix Bul¬
lard. Their brother, Mr. Charlie
E. Manry, of Miami, returned home
with them to spend a few days visit¬
ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F.
Manry.
Mrs. Neva Laseter and son, Tom,
and her mother, Mrs. Lena Brimberry,
left Tuesday for Sarasota, Fla.,
Where Mrs. Brimberry plans to make
her home in the future, much to the
regret of her friends here. Mrs.
Laseter and Tom will visit Orlando
and other places before returning
home.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Baker and
daughter, of Lake Worth, Fla. were
guests of Mrs. E. Hackett, Jr. on
Wednesday and Thursday of last
week. Mrs. Hackett entertained at a
delightful dinner for them Wednes¬
day night, after which about thirty
five friends were invited to meet the
visitors and enjoy a water melon cut¬
ting.
Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Cochran had as
their guests this week, Mr. G, W. Mc¬
Millan, mayor and prominent citizen
of Acworth, and his attractive dau¬
ghters, Misses Bessie and Mary Dell
McMillan. Mr. McMillan had not
visited Camilla in thirty odd years
and of course saw numberless chang¬
es in both place and people, but was
very favorably impressed with fine
crops and business prospects.
Mr. and Mrs. P. C. McNeill and
young son, Mr. and Mrs. E. Griffin
and daughter and Mrs. D. Little, all
of Tampa, Fla. spent the week-end
here as guests at the home of Dr. and
Mrs. Jas. D. Deans. Mesdames Mc¬
Neill, Griffin and Little are sisters of
Mrs. Deans. The entire party left
Tuesday morning, taking with them
Mrs. Deans, Helen and Cameron
Deans, who will visit them in Tampa
and Cortex Beach for several weeks.
Many friends of the city were pleas¬
ed at the news of the birth of twin
daughters* to Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
Keunzel at Health Resort, a suburb
of Villa Park, 111., on Sunday morn¬
ing, June 22. They Rave been named
Elizabeth Jean and Mary Jane. Mrs.
Keunzel, was formerly Miss Mary
Johnson, of this city, daughter of
Judge and Mrs. A. S. Johnson, now of
Villa Park, 111. Mr. Kuenzel is as
sitant cashier of the Villa Park Trust
and Savings Bank. His club, the Vil¬
la Park Lions, expressed their feli¬
citation with a gift of a nice purse
toward a baby carriage for the young¬
sters. Hearty congratulations are
being extended by their many Camilla
friends to the happy parents and
Judge Johnson, the proud grandfath¬
er who is visiting here among his old
friends, is receiving a part of the
happy expressions himself.
PHILATHEAS MEET TODAY.
The ladies Philathea Class of the
Baptist Sunday School will hold a reg¬
ular business and social meeting this
(Friday) afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at
the home of Mrs. I. H. Cordell on
South Scott street. All the ladies
should be present. Visitors invited.
BRIDGE CLUB.
Mrs. E. Hackett, Jr. was a delight¬
ful hostess to the Bridge Club on
Tuesday morning from. 10 to 12
o’clock. Roses and crepe myrtle gave
a lovely color note of pink and white,
being gracefully arranged in tall
baskets and vases. After the game
a dainty and appetizing luncheon was j
served. Mrs. Blanche Bush was a
guest of the club.
MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER.
A charming- affair was given in
honor of Mrs. C. B. Hayes, whose)
wedding was an important social
event of last Wednesday evening, was
the Miscellaneous shower, with which
Miss Emmie Martin complimented the
bride to be at her home in Hopeful
community on Saturday afternoon,

The house was attractively decorat¬
ed with a profusion of cut flowers and
greenery. A pleasing diversion of
the guests was writing advice to the
bride, which she was I’equested to j
read before placing in’ the contest! bride’s!
book for future use. A heart
was also indulged in, the prize win¬
ners presenting in graceful fashion,
their prizes as gifts to the honor
guest. Miss Ivey was then handed
a white satin ribbon, which she was
requested to follow to its end. After
many windings back and forth from
room to room, as she entered the
dining room door someone pulled the
other end from a white bag just over
her head, showering gifts all around.
Many beautiful and useful articles
for the bride's trousseau or new home
were included in the lavish display
of gifts.
A lovely salad course and iced tea
were then enjoyed as refreshments.

Miss Martin, the hostess wore a frock;
of flowered georgette over gold satin.
She was assisted in serving by Miss
Dallas West, of Sale City, who wore
a sport suit of cream silk with touches
of powder blue.
About thirty five ladies enjoyed the
pretty affair.
