We were fortunate to have with
during the revival and for a few days
afterward, Miss McMickrel, Bible
teacher, whose instruction has been
very helpful. She is doing some
great work throughout the country.
The lessons she gave were very in¬
spirational.
We have reorganized our Sunday
School and think we can and will do
some work that will be worth while
to us and to others. We aspecially
invite as many as can to attend and
see what we’re going to do.
Several from here attended servic¬
es at Mt. Pjeasant Sunday and Sun¬
day night and we do not regret ft in
the least, for the sermons were well
worth the time.
Mr. Lewis Holt and cousin, Miss
Lucile Sullivan, spent Sunday after¬
noon visiting friends near Sale City.
Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Richardson and
Miss Annie Thornton, of Americus,
visited their mother, Mrs. Lelia Thorn¬
ton Sunday. Miss Thornton will re¬
main here for a few weeks.
Mrs. Horton Deese, from St. Augus¬
tine, Fla., who has been visiting
friends and relatives here, left yes¬
terday for Tallulah Falls, wh^re she
will spend a few days before return¬
ing home.
Mr. Davis Cooper came home from
a few weeks ago and has re¬
cently undergone an operation. We

Miss Jewell Poore with her guest,
Miss Ina Mills, both from the Davis
Fisher Sanitarium, in Atlanta,, are
visiting her" parents here, Mr. and
Mrs. M. Poore. Other visitors to Mr.
Poore, are Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Mock,
from Leesburg, Fla., Misses Ruth and
Evelyn Jones from Camilla.
Mr. Joe Henry and wife and baby,
of Lakeland, Fla., are spending some
tjme with father and brother here.
Messrs. Jewell Barksdale, Leon
Phason, Melton from Lakeland, were
the guests of Mr. John Henrys’ fami¬
ly. Mr. Henry tells us he has just
installed a fine new gin and will be
ready to take care of the cotton as
soon as it opens, which is now for
some of it, he expects to begin gin¬
ning last of this or first of next week.

Mrs. Dr. Cranford is visiting her
mother and sister in Doerun this
week.

West were called to Pavo Sunday to
the bedside of a sick relative.

trip to New York Saturday night
where he had been on a' visit.
Mrs. Tabor and children have re¬
turned from a visit to her parents at
Cordele.
Mr. and Mrs. Maskers, of Wheel¬
ing, W. Va., are visiting Mrs. Maskers
people here. A big family reunion
was held at Mrs. H. T. Shiver’s Sat¬
urday, a barbecue was the feature of
the occasion.
Miss Helen Muilis returned to her
home at Valdosta Tuesday afternoon,
after several weeks visit to her sister,
Mrs. J. I. Perry.

The sympathy of the entire com¬
munity goes out to Mr. Lubin DeWitt,
over the loss of his wife at Haines
City, Fid., Saturday. Everyone was
shocked at the sad news, it was so
sudden, after only a few months of
married life he is left. The DeWitt
families, also her people, the Webbs,
went over to the funeral at Hahira
Sunday.

WASHINGTON.—Biologists of the
department of agriculture declared
today that the time-honored yams
about “hoop snakes" “stinging
snakes” and “glass snakes” are bun¬
combe.
The story that snakes that give
chase by grabbing their horned tails
in their mouths and rolling like hoops
is a fable, they say. The so-called
stinging snake hasn’t any sting, the
biologists crediting origin of the
story to existence of a snake having
a fine pointed tail.
The “glass” or jointed snake, said
to have the power to disjoin and wig¬
gle off in ail directions when attacked
and later reassemble itself, is nothing

DEATH OF INFANT.
Little Emory Sellers, five months
old son of Mr. and Mr. Clarence Sel¬
lers, of Pebble City, died Wednesday
morning, July 15, after an illness of
only a few days.
Funeral services were held Thurs¬
day afternoon at Sale City cemetery,
where the little body was laid to rest.
Services were conducted by Rev. H.
N. Burnett and Rev. I. R. Kelly.
The many friends of the bereaved
parents are deeply in sympathy with
in their loss.
