Miss Janie Vam, of Brooksville,
Fla., arrived here Sunday to visit her
sister, Mrs. A. H. Gore, for several
weeks. Mrs. Gore went over to Du¬
pont Sunday to meet her sister.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Ed Buchanan, of
Charlotte, N. C., and Mrs. B. F. Mer¬
ritt, of Morgan, arrived here Wednes¬
day to spend the remainder of the
week visiting Mrs. R. T. Cochran.
Miss Virginia Wade returned home
Saturday from Atlanta, where she
finished a course in millinery. She
expects to leave Sunday for McRae,
where she has accepted a position as
milliner for the coming season.
Rev. J. I. D. Miller and Miss Au¬
rora Acree went up to Forsyth Mon
day to spend a few days with Mr. and
Mrs. Howell Newton. Mr. and Mrs.
Hall, of Newton, accompanied them
on the trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Attaway ar¬
rived in the city Wednesday from Col¬
umbus to get ready for the fall open¬
ing of school. Mr. and Mrs. Atta¬
way report a delightful vacation spent
at Columbus, Wrightsville, Athens
and points in Florida, Mr. Attaway at¬
tending summer school at the State
University. Mr. and Mrs. F. K.
Schley, of Columbus, accompanied
them home for a visit of several days.
Mrs. L. O. Shivers and granddaugh¬
ter, Miss Frances Dekle, of Chipley,
Fla., are visiting Mrs. Shivers’ sister,
Mrs. G. M. Cochran this week and will
come to Camilla in a day or so to visit
another sister, Miss Mollie Collins,
and Mrs. Tump Cochran near Camilla
while here. Mrs. Shivers has many
relatives and old friends in the county,
who will remember her as Miss Mat
tie Collins.
Announcement was received this
of the birth of a baby daughter
on last Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Jen¬
nings Hayes, at Miami, Fla. Con¬
gratulations are being extended the
parents.
Mrs. J. T. A mail, of Senoia, has
been spending several days in the city
visiting with relatives and friends.
She is leaving today for Jacksonville,
to spend a short time with Mrs.
S. H. Floyd.
Mrs. Harvey A. Sewell, who is
spending the summer at Mr. C. C.
Davis’ home near Hopeful, left the
latter part of last week to join her
husband, who is Supt. of Government
work on the Flint river, going to We
tumpku, Ala., to spend a week or so.
Mr. George Perry, Mr. and Mrs. R.
S. Cochran and son, Rob Roy, and
Masters Schuyler Floyd and Drewry
Ledbetter, Jr. motored down to Jaek
sonville for the week-end, Schuyler
and Drewry, Jr. remaining for a long¬
er time.
Mr. J. F. Redd returned to Camilla
Tuesday after spending a short va
in North Georgia visiting home
folks. While away he spent a week
at Athens attending a conference of
Vocational Agriculture teachers of
this stute.
Friend- of Miss Louise Palmer are
much gratified at the fact that she is
rapidly gaining her usual strength
and is able to be out again after
about three weeks of convalescing
from an appendicitis operation in
Athens, where she was finishing- a
course at. the State University.
Messrs. W. H. Alesser and W. L.
Messer, of Grand Ridge, Jackson
county, Florida, were among those
selling tobacco here last Friday,
These gentlemen were well pleased

conditions in Mitchell County.
Mr. M. Dennis and Mr. Freeman,
of Valdosta, and Miss Robbie Nell
Turner, of Quitman, came over and
spent Sunday with Air. and Mrs. John
Walker. Miss Irma Lee Turner and
brother, Charles, returned to Quitman
with them Sunday night after spend¬
ing a week here.
Prof. C. F. Richards, superintendent
of Hopeful school, returned this week
from a visit to points in North Geor
gia and North Carolina, where he
spent a short vacation. He was
companied home by Mrs. Richards and
Miss Edith. Mrs. Richards has been
taking a summer course at Piedmont
College, Item orest, Ga.

has been sick for three or four weeks,
was carried Wednesday to the hospital
at Thomasville for treatment, and it
is earnestly hoped that she will very
soon begin to improve in strength.
