Mitchell County Starts
Nutrition Research
Miss Susan Matthews, Nutrition
expert from the State College of Agri¬
culture, and Miss Ella Foy, County
Home Economics Agent, are conduct¬
ing a very interesting nutrition re¬
search work in the county.
The project began two weeks ago
when these ladies enlisted ten house¬
keepers, who agreed to enter into the
plan. The entire contents of the pan¬
try were weighed and for two
a strict account was kept of all the
food bought and consumed by the
family and al! leftovers consigned to
the garbage pail, also the number of
members in family and state of health
during experiment. A second set of
of housekeepers are now working the
plan and after two weeks a third set

It is just as easy to teach a child the habit of sav¬
ing as it is to permit it to acquire the habit of spending.
The toy bank may be used to teach a child the val¬
ue of saving and the safety of banking. But parents
permit the child to use the toy bank as a toy when very
young, and then just at the.time when they should fol¬
low up the toy bank stage with a real bank account
they give the matter no further attention.
It is unjust to the child—there would be more sav¬
ers and fewer spenders if parents did their duty.

will work it for two weeks. Secur¬
ing these statistics from thirty homes
in the county where the diet is large¬
ly the same, the average amount
food consumed per person and health
average can be determined. In
way nutrition erperts seek to find
what the relationship it between diet
and health.
This nutrition plan will be worked
in South Georgia during the
months and will be taken up in North
Georgia next spring. Mitchell county
was chosen as the first county in the
state to take up the nutrition work.
Bovs Hierh Y Club Ts
Reorganized Tuesday
The Camilla High Y Club met Tues¬
day night at the club room for the
purpose of reorganization for the new
club year. A succession of unavoid¬
able interferences have kept the hoys
from resuming their club work up to
this time, but at the meeting Tues¬
day night there was enthusiasm and
optimism in plenty and the organic
zation is now in full sway.
Meetings of the club are held on
Tuesday nights at seven o'clock. Only
a few of the old club membership are
left this year, but the boys are plan¬
ning to take in a good many new
members.
The High Y club has been one of
the greatest forces for good in our :
community by cultivating m . our , boy*

Replacing Marker
Of Hawthorne Trail
The Hawthorne Trail marker, erect¬
ed by the Mitchell County Chapter D.
A. R. at the interesetion of Broad and
Scott .streets, which was removed last
fall while the streets were being pav¬
ed, is being replaced this week by the
Davis Construction Co. under arrange¬
ments made with the city. The mar¬
ker is being replaced as near the ori¬
ginal site as possible. A manhole
which is located in the center of the
street at this point made it necessary
to shift the marker slightly to one
Side, but this change is not noticeable.
There had been some talk of moving
the marker to some other point on ac¬
count of obstructing the manhole on
the original site, but the majority
opinion seemed to favor the old site,
with a change just sufficient to un¬
cover the manhole.
MOVES TO FLORIDA.
Mr. W. F. Stoudenmire left Wednes¬
day night for DeLand, Fla., where
he will assume management of a Pig
gly Wiggly store to be opened up at
that place. Mr. Stoudenmire’s family
vyill remain here until the first of next
year before joining him in Florida.
His numerous friends here regret his
leaving Camilla but wish him all good
luck in his new field. Mr. Willis
j ohnaon , of Palme tt 0) will arrive in
Camilla before the first of November
to take Mr. Stoudenmire’s place at
the Union Supply Co. His family
will join him here as soon as residence
location can be secured. Mr. John¬
son is a brother of Mr. J. G. Johnson
and is already acquainted with quite
a few Camilla people.
Camilla-Albany Game
Thursday Afternoon
Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon,
3:30 o'clock, was the hour set for the
rirost highly anticipated football game
of the season so far, Camilla boys to
play Albany’s second team-/ on thy
home veld. The game promised to
be a good one for the reason that the
Camilla boys were to meet a team of
about their own weight.
The two games previous to this one
were one sided afiairs, and unfair be¬
cause the opponents outweighed the
Camilla boys about twenty or twenty
five pounds to the man. Our boys
lost the game to Americus A. & M.
last Friday with nothing to their dis¬
credit. The CamifteMSds fought gal¬
lantly all through the. game but lost
to a better team. The Camilla team
averaged only "124 pounds, while the
Americus boys .averaged 107 pounds.
Jacobs starred for Americus. All the
Camilla boys played well considering
the team they were against.
