HOPEFUL NEWS
Last Thursday afternoon several
the ladies and the teachers of
school met for the purpose of organiz¬
ing a P. T. A. After an
talk by Mrs. C. F. Richards, the as¬
sociation was soon organized. The
following officers were elected: Mrs.
C. F. Richards, president; Mrs. J. R.
Stripling and Mrs. R. L. Bolton/vice
presidents; Mrs. C. B. Cox, secretary;
Mrs. J. R. Lee, treasurer. A great
tkfal of interest was manifested
both teachoys and parents, and we feel
sure that much good will be accom
plisbed through this organization,
Thursday, October 22nd, was the day
appointed for the next meeting.
Miss Emmie Martin was the week¬
end guest of Miss Dallas West of
Sale City last week.
Miss ‘Bernice Davis, who is now
teaching at Pleasant Grove spent the
week-end at home with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Bjjvis,
Messrs. J, T. Hammond and Floyd
Nesmith left Monday afternoon for
Jacksonville, Fla. after having spent
the week-end with home folks.
Miss Cornelia Gill spent last week
at Climax, visiting friends.
Mr. C. F. Richards accompanied by
Cecil Johnson, with a part of Mitchell
county exhibit, left Sunday night for
Macon. Mr. Richards will help to
superintend the exhibit in Macon.
Misses Della and Eunice Hancock
spent last week in Thomasvillc visit¬
ing their parents.
The Hopeful B. Y. P. U. had a good
program Sunday afternoon, which
was rendered by group II. Great in¬
terest is being manifested in the con¬
test for this quarter. As group II
and HI are ahead, group I had better
get to work if it does not want to en¬
tertain the other two groups.
Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Salter, Mrs.
Cliff Brocket!, Mrs. Whitsley and
Mrs. J. R, Stripling spent Monday in
Albany shopping.

The Wilsonian Society rendered a
very interesting program last Friday
afternoon. The Altoriqns have about
decided that the Wilsonians have
plenty of “pep.” Mrs. Harrell who
gave a good reading and ten pupils,
Kathleen Stripling, Eunice Pearl Mer¬
cer, Mae Eidson, Jewel Huey, John¬
nie Ruth Stripling, Elmo Douglas, Ro¬
bert E. Harmon, Turner Cox, Jr. Ce¬
cil Johnson and Clio Rogers, who sang
the school song, and gave the society
yell, received an encore. This is an
honor that the ARoriaps have not yet
received.
Mr. Elmer Richards, who has been
in Atlanta as one of the representa¬
tives of Mitchell county, returned
Monday night and reports a wonder¬
ful time. Valuable information and
excitement was given the boys who
attended the fair school. Several trips
to interesting places were taken. We
are proud of the fact our school has
been represented three times in suc¬
cession and hope our school wil be rep¬
resented next year.
DELWOOD NEWS.
Well, we are having some cool wea¬
ther at this writing. Guess every
bbdy is glad to see it.
Mr. Oscar Cooper returned home
from''Chicago last Wednesday and is
visiting his mother and other rela¬
tives here.
Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Pollock, their
daughter, Miss Thelma Pollock, and
Miss Ora Lee Keaton, attended the
quarterly meeting in Bainbridge
Thursday and reported a nice time.
We are going to have a box supper
at Delwood School on Friday night,
October 23. Everybody is invited to
come.
Misses Lynda and Ary Bostick
spent the week-end with Miss Thelma
Pollock.
Miss Ora Lee Keaton and Miss Mat
tie Keaton spent Sunday with Miss
Thelma Pollock.
Mr. and Mrs. M. M .Pollock and
family were the guests of Mrs. Pol¬
lock’s father Sunday.
All of the Delwood folks that at¬
tended the all day sing at Mt. Olive
Sunday, reported a nice time.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Keaton were
the guests of their daughter, Mrs. Al¬
ton Cooper, Sunday.

Revival meeting closed at Lake
Pleasant Sunday night. After the
regular services dosed a business
meeting was held for the purpose of
electing a new pastor. Mr. J. I. D.
Miller was unanimously elected.
A large number of people from Cot¬
ton attended the singing convention
held at Mt. Olive Sunday.
Cotton was well represented at a
circus in Pelham Thursday.
Mr. T. F. Strickland of Plant City,
Fla., is visiting his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. S. K. Strickland.
Miss Lueile Hinson was with home
folks last week-end.

The P. T. A. held its regular month¬
ly meeting Monday afternoon with
J. W. Howell. The new presi¬
presided. The minutes read and
showing that during the last
month the association has cleared be¬
$75.00 and $80.00.
Plans were made for a Halloween
entertainment, proceeds to go to Miss
Foy, for her demonstration, in her
Girl’s Club. Miss Foy was present
and promised her help in anyway. Dr.
Rainey was also present and gave an
inspiring talk on how to obtain better
results on health lines, and securing a
bigger membership of the association.
Plans were made to have the school
grounds cleaned up, and a semi-jani¬
tor employed to help keep the build¬
ing clean.
The P. T. A. is doing a wonderful
work, and if every parent would be¬
come an honeSt to goodness wide
awake, mean business, member, things
would happen in Sale City school that
the hinderers say can’t be dofoe. Let’s
take a survey of ourselves apd see
whether we are backers or slackers.
. After the adjournment, Mrs. Ed¬
wards and Mrs. Brock served iced
tea and crackers to the* ones present.

end with relatives here.

Greenoungh Locals.
We are again visited by Mr. Winter,
and we are expecting him to make a
longer stay than he did before as we
are all glad to see the weather cooler,
gs we are tiffed of fanning to try to
stay cool. Everybody in and around
Greenough enjoyed a much longed
for rain ’ Sunday, and everything
is
about to be normal again, after a long
drought.
Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Jackson, of Ba
conton, came through Greenough
Sunday afternoon.
Mr. John Howell, of Sale City, was
out at the home of Mr. W’. H. Park
man’s Tuesday repairing his peanut
thrash, getting ready for work again.
Mr. E. E. Rackley is building a new
barn on his place here and improves
the looks of the place very much.
Visiting at the home of Mr. W. H.
Parkman’s for a short .time Saturday
night, was Mr. and Mrs. Bill Griner,
Master Julian Griner, of Doerun, Miss
Myrtice Griner and Laurene Murphy,
of Moultrie, Miss Imogene Lane and
Messrs. Cecil Walters and Herman
Monroe.
The Greenough Club Girls were giv
en a lesson in sewing last Thursday,
when Miss Foy had our regular meet¬
ing. Those taking this work are
Misses Nellie and Allie Mae
more, Agnes and Ethel Davis, Lydia
Etha and Aldine Beck, Irene Mary
and Annie Kate Parkman. We all
appreciate Miss Foy’s interest and
work in our school and we look for¬
ward to our next meeting with much
pleasure.

association at Union last Thursday

show, they report a delightful time
