Dr. L. A. Harper Dead.
Dr. L. A. Harper died at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. G. W.
White at ten o’clock Wednesday
morning. His home was at Cor
dele until four years ago when he
came to this county and made
his home with Mrs. White. He
leaves three children, Mrs. G. W.
White, of Pelham; Mrs. Gray of
Magnolia, Arkansas; Mrs Hobby
of Texas. He was an honored
confederate veteran. He retired
from the active practice of medi¬
cine several years ago. The fun¬
eral was preached by Rev. C. W.
Curry at the residence today and
the burial will take place at
Cordele.

Joe Brown spellbinders on hand
Friday night to “talk to the
voters” at the opera house. They
have offered to divide time with
the Hoke Smith crowd and it is
possible that there will be a joint
debate. An effort is being made
to secure Judge H. D. D. Twiggs
or Col. A. H. Cox. It is not
known whom the Smith support
will secure or whether they will
put up any one.

is a student at Harvard University,
Dr. T. P. Hinman of Atlanta ar¬
rived in the the city this morning
to spend several days.
Dr. D. A. Spence spent last night
in Albany.
Mr. Tom Christie came up last
night from Jacksonville.
