SENSATION IN
BAKER COUNTY
Preacher is Charged With
Attempted Criminal
Assault at Milford.
Newtou, Ga., Nov. 24.—Details
reached here yesterday of a sensa¬
tional shooting affray which took
place in Milford last Sunday af¬
ternoon. The town was thrown
into a condition almost approach¬
ing panic when, just as many citi¬
zens were returning to their homes
from afternoon church services,
Mr. E. E. Taylor fired a pistol
five times at Rev. Mr. Morris,
pastor of the Milford Methodist
church. Only one shot took ef
r '-'t a aljqthfe womid in
the y part of Mr. Morris’ leg.
According to information re
* jceived here, Mr. Morris boarded
88, o. home of Mr. Taylor, who
•Tfiffrnetf ft Miss Hudgins, of near
Milford, and Mr. Taylor charged
Mr. Morris with attempted as¬
sault on Mrs. Taylor. The Tay¬
lors moved into the county about
Public sentiment favors Mr.
Morris, as his standing in the
community is such that it is not
generally believed that he is
guilty of the charge made against
him.
After the shooting Mr. Taylor
was kept in custody at Milford
until a warrant could be issued
and served by Sheriff Perry, who
lodged the prisoner in jail here
yesterday.
Mr. Taylor has also sworn out a
warrant charging Rev. Mr. Morris
with attempted assault on Mrs.
Taylor. The outcome of the sen
sational affair is awaited with in¬
tense interest.—Albany Herald.

so carried off its feet as it was at that
time. Members of the nobility were
waiting for a chance to purchase

most persuasive charms on Law In the

sorts caricaturing Law, the nobility,
the schemes and everything connected
with them.
It was this tremendous amount of
pictorial work that firm directed the
energies of William Hogarth in Lon¬

began to be used more and more in the
political field, and soon afterward It
caused the shelving of Robert Walpole
from the English ministry. Ever since
then has caricaturing been one of the
bitterest and most effect ual methods of
checking public men and their
schemes.
