FIREMEN’S BANQUET
FRIDAY EVENING.
One of the most enthusiastic
meetings ever held by the Firemen
in the seventeen years of the organ¬
ization was the banquet held last
Friday evening at the Hotel Mar¬
guerite.
Chief L. I). Hand acted as toast
master. A splendid menu was
✓served, and anutnberof very inter¬
esting short talks were made by
members. The meeting adjourned
to reconvene at a call meeting to
be held Thursday evening, Nov.
22, at 8 00 o’clock at the City
Hall.
The Department represents a high
sense of civic duty, as the mem¬
bers serve without compensation,
and the town is saved thousands of
dollars each year by its work at
fires, and by the reduction in in¬
surance rates, which comes from
an efficient department.
MatGali Loses
Valuable Cattle

Camilla have lost within the past
few days twenty-five head ot cattle
- from mvsteriqus kind of poisoning,.
Among the cattle were several val¬
uable Jersey heifers recently ship¬
ped from Tennessee. In addition
to the cows one mule has died.
The stock have been grazing in
a large fiield near Camilla in this
county together with a number of
bogs. ‘A few days ago the cattle
became sick and began to,die, but
so far none of the hogs have shown
signs of sickness.
A Veterinary surgeon has been
called in but so far as not given
any opinion as to the cause.
