BIGGER BUSINESS
Twenty years of experience in the town of Pelham have given us a deep confidence this section,
and we have never wavered in our opinion that this territory is the best to he found anywhere.
Crop conditions are the best that the section has had in years, with prospects for good prices for
farm produce, and we are expecting the heaviest demand for good mules that we have had since the “war
boom.”
During the years that we have been in business here we have earned the reputation of being the
leading dealers in live stock in this section, and we always try to live up to this reputation by keeping a big
collection of good stock, and by fair dealings.
Our stables "were completely destroyed by fire last spring, but we have leased the Pelham Live Stock
Company’s big barn east of the Atlantic Coast Line depot, and will remodel it, and rebuild the mule pens
to fit our needs.
We have made plans to keep on hand just such mules as you will want, and the price will be right.
We will make it, more than ever before, to your advantage to do business with us.

PASTOR’S TENTH
ANNIVERSARY
Last Sunday marked the Tenth
Anniversary of pastor W. B. Pea
gins as a Baptist minister. His
people gave him three large con¬
gregations, and there was one ac¬
cession to the church at the morn¬
ing hour. There were one hundred
men in the Scrap-Iron Bible class
at the City council room, and every¬
body there seemed happy, enjoying
the lecture given by the their teach¬
er, who is also their pastor. He
spoke on “Live in the Sunshine”,
his remarks being based on 21st
verse of the book of Jude.
Following the class lecture the
men followed their teacher to the
church where he was greeted by a
large and patient congregation of
his admiring friends and members
of his church. His subject was “The
Heavenly Walk,” being the subject
and text from which he spoke ten
years ago. It was an unlifting mes¬
sage, and stirred the hearts of those
who heard it.
A message of greeting was then
read from D. C. Alligood, to the pas¬
tor, after which Misses Lennie and
Alice Cook sang “Dear to the Heart
of (he Shepherd,” a duet, jvhich was
appreciated by the large congrega¬
tion. The Philathea and Men’s Bi¬
ble classes presented the pastor
with two dozen beautiful roses, and
these were placed on the table in
front of the pulpit. The church was
beautifully decorated with Zinnias,

ferns and coral vines.
At the evening hour the house
was packed with friends of the pas¬
tor, being the largest congregation
since the special meetings in March
He spoke on “The Knowledge of
Salvation,” a sermon that moved
the people profoundly. The inter¬
mediate choir was at its best, and
Hilda Spence sang: “Softly and
Tenderly Jesus is Calling.” At the
close of the evening service, as at
the morning service, hundreds came
forward to shake the pastor’s hand,
and bid him God-speed as he faces
the second decade in the glorious
work of the Gospel ministry. Sure¬
ly, it was a victorious day in the
old church!
Town of Banana
There is an African Island north of
the mouth of the Kongo named
Banana, and a town on the island by
the- same name, it was until lately
a station of commercial importance.
Tim building of a railroad to Matilda,
with the establishment of an ocean
steamship line to that place, and the
removal of the headquarters of trad¬
ing firms brought about the decline
of Banana.
