HATCHERY OPENS
ON AUG. 25TH
Mr. Harris announces that he
will set the first lot of eggs for the
coming- season on Aug. 25th.
Chickens "and eggs proved a very
satisfactory adjunct to ttlie small
crops of the farm last year, where
they were properly cared for and
the coming season bids fair to
eclipse all former years in this line
of business. Mr. Harris states that
he has already had demands for
more space than he can take care
of for the first week's setting of
1200 eggs. Inquiries for good day
old chicks are strong, and it is
thought that the demand will ex¬
ceed the supply throughout the en¬
tire season.

A CORRECTION
BOND ISSUE
WAS LOST
Our attention has been called to
an error in a recent issue, where
we stated that the §25,000 bond
issue for water extent ion had pass¬
ed by a safe majority. Under the
old law the vote was sufficient to
have carried the issue, hut under
our present registration law, it is
neccessary for one-half the regis¬
tered voters of the town to vote for
a bond issue for it to pass. As
there are 54 2 registered voters
here it would have been necessary
for the issue to get 272 votes,
whereas it received 2 30 votes,
and failed to pass by 42 votes.
Numbers of our c itizens were un¬
familiar with the law as it stands
at present, or they would have put
forward greater efforts to secure
the much needed extention of our
fire protection.
