The Augusta Advertiser was a short-lived weekly Democratic newspaper founded by John M. Weisle that began publication on November 3, 1877 issue. The paper didn’t last the month, as Weisle entered into a partnership with Jas. L. Gow and William H. Moore to form the Augusta Evening News on November 20, 1877. The result of this partnership was the merging of the Advertiser with the Evening News.
