Death of Mr. It. M. Ramsay.
Again it is our sad duty to chron
icle the sad intelligence of the de
parture from this life of a good and
true man. The gentleman whose
name heads this article, was the
father of Rev. W. S. Ramsay of
Dublin, and was well known to
many of our readers, and the sad
news of his death will chat a gloom
over the circle of his many friends.
He was taken sick with pneumo
nia at his residence in Midway on
Friday last, and died about 8 o’clock
Monday morning. He was about 76
years old. He came to Midway in
1838, from Augusta, to take charge
of the primary school connected
with Oglethorpe University, and
was ex-officio member of the Facul
ty of that institution. He held that
position until the University fell un
der the weight of financial troubles
and was removed to Atlanta.
He was a faithful, conscientious
and successful teacher. His heart
was as tender as a woman’s, and full
of the milk of human kindness. His
long life was illustrated by a walk
with God and man, pure and unblem
ished by a stain. He was for many
years a member of the Presbyterian
church, with which denomination
ho had been connected from his
youth to the time of his death. At
the time of his death he was School
Commissioner of Baldwin county.

of ten thousand dazzling articles of
ladies’ apparel, whoso names and
uses cau only be contained in a female
memory, os he watches the regiment
of clerks and boys moving in the
poetry of motion and to the musio

the precision of machinery, ho. can
hardly realize that he is in a South

is equally as wonderful, of less daz
