Mr, W. W. Smith present the
Post on Monday morning with tho
fiuest pomegranite wo have over soon
It weighs lib. 13+ ounces. It is a
gennino wonder in size and beauty.
Many thanks.
The cx-belligeraufe, McDowel and
Pryor, did not join tho Methodist
church at the same revival as stated
in the Post two weeks ago. The
lion and the lamb have not quite
lain down together. One of them
joined the Methodist and the othor
the Baptist church.
Browning, the prisoner now in jail
for rape, is about the hardest-looking
case ever seen in Dublin. With a
countenance liko that of a demon,
you can hardly lay your hand on his
body without covering one or more
scam made by rowdy bowie knives.
He has a wife in Coffee county.
Dr. J. W. Kurtz mot with a serious
nccidont last Monday. He was rid
ing a young horse with a severe bit,
and giving a rather short check, the
horse fell, catching the doctor's leg
under his side and breaking it just
above tho ankle. Dr. Barkwell
dressed tho wound, and Dr. K. is
doing well.
In n Well.
On lust Wednesday Mr. J. T.
Faulk’s oldest daughter, Mary, was
drawing water by hand from a curb
less well, when she lost her balance
and fell to the. bottom head foremost.
The well was about fifteen feet in
water, but sho managed to rise and
cling to the side of the well until her
father heard her screams and came
to her rescue. Sho suffered no seri
ous’ damage, bin her escape was a
a narrow one.
Twilight Progress.
We learn from several white parties
present that tho closing exercises of
the colored school at Sandy Ford, in
this county, last Friday, Friday liight'
and Saturday wpro a decided success.
The colored teacher, J. M. Moorman,
seems to have advanced his pupils
rapidly. They analyzed their exam
ples in arithmetic handsomely, they
wrote out answers to questions in
grammar with facility, seemed to be
at homo in any and every part of
geography, and declaimed and recited
poetry with correctness. They lmd
tables spread at tho school house
loaded with good things and seemed
to enjoy the occasion amazingly.
A General Invitation.
All who go from this part'of the
country to the Stuto Fair in Macon
are invited to visit and walk through
the mammoth wholesale and retail
establishment of Waxlebumn & Co.,
There is no other-wholesale house in
Macon equal to Waxlobamn’s, either
in point of size, perfection of ap
pointment or in the dazzling splen
dor of the display of merchandise.
The endless variety and tho immense
quantities of goods arc arranged with
suoli exact system and such exquis
ite. taste that ono may walk with
delight for hours through the aisles
bordered by an evorchanging exhibi
tion of merchandise impressed with
the fancy that he is realizing a dream
of Orientiul extravaganza.
This immense house, like Rome,
was not built in a day. Neither is it
the work of, chance. Mr. Wuxle-
baum 1ms built it up by the closest
attention to business principles and
by unswerving integrity. Ilia supe
rior business sagacity and his large
capital enabled him to buy on such
terms as to give his patrons better
bargains than other merchants and
thus to increase year by year the
ever-widoning circle of customers un
til tho house has reached its present
gigantic proportions. Don’t fail to
go and see for yourselves ! 2t
