thousand dollars, notes, deeds, etc.,

failed to get it open, ujtd Peter
McBride and son. learning of its

and buried it in order, it is said, to
got tlio ownjr to offer a Inrgra re

when it was turned over for tiro origi

that the citizens of tho county arc

ties who kept tho safe in older to
fill their own pockets.
Our citizens have beoii frequently
inconvenienced recently l?,y the
irregularity of the mails. The mail
that left here Monday afternoon enui6
back tlio next night, and the letters

until this morning. TJie, causo of
this evil should bs ferreted out and

There are men in this, comity, who
will vote for the independent candi

that would consider it an insult to bo
told they aro not democrats. But
how can they call themselves such
and vote agiw.nsb i’Rc democratic

Tho rise in the vwuution of land
in Juukaon’a district, this county,
during tho past twenty years, has
been wonderful. Lam] that sold
twenty years ago for ten coins per

it is eight miles from the county sculp

Tho protracted meeting ut tho
church here, after a continuation of
two weeks, was closed 1 by Rev. W. S.

was a meeting of considerable, in or

the number that joined. Fourteen
mimes were enrolled on the church
