Tho Credulity of tlio *
Tiie' crcdulbus editor bfiho
raoy of Laurens county. Wo lav
ciedulous but his credulity, roaches
only in one direction. From all
outward appearances, tho editor of
ti e above named paper seems utterly
incapable of believing anything that
is not in accordance with his wishes.
Someone has told him that the
democrats of this county have put
up a job on his big brother, and he
is provoked to wrath and calls the
meeting and those that participated
therein ail sorts of ugly names. He
says that the “so called democratic
nomination” called on tho citizens,
irrespective of their politics, to select
delegates to the nominating conven
tion; that the- republicans had as
much right to participate therein
as the democrats. This is the tact ics
on which his independent brother
has been relying, aud it simply begs
the question. It is not reasonable
to every man that lias three grains
i$jt sense that a mass meeting,
otuGunorats alone, called together bv
the democratic executive committee,
would not bo silly enough to try
to dicaitc to the republicans? Is it
not extremely idiotic for a man, or
a few men, to try and change the
moaning of a resolution, passed by
democracy. 1 just because the word
“detjioci’a's”® was not embodied in it?
But we will saj|' nothing further
concerning tiie Tithes. If it affords
it any pleasure to misrepresent this
pa tier and the democratic, masses of
our county,' why let it have all that
it cati derive from it. Our people
know bow the matter stands, and it
is useless to argue with an outsider;
for “h imntv convinced against his
will is of .the same opinion still.”
We simply write this to show tho- te
nacity with which the Times holds
to wrong.impressions, assuring’ on 1;
readers that'the balance of the non
sense is equally as trivial as that
which we mention now, and gave
them week before last—totally void
of reason.and common sense..-.
