WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2008 THE BANKS COUNTY NEWS PAGE 5A DISPLAY OF VETERANS’ MEMORABILIA AND PHOTOS Veterans attended a special program held in their honor at Banks County Middle School. A display of memorabilia and photos from area veterans was in the hallway. Some veterans are shown checking out the display after the program. TIRE RECYCLING Approximately 1,000 tires were brought to the Banks County Parks and Recreation Department as part of a Keep Our Mountains Beautiful Project. The Banks County Board of Commissioners and the Georgia Environmental Health Protection Division sponsored the event. Robert Norman (left) and Cody Meeks braved the hot sun to collect the tires and store them in a trailer in the parking lot of the recreation department. More than 100 citizens dropped tires off for recycling. RUNNING TO REGION The Banks County High School football team competed in the Region 8-AA playoffs against Washington-Wilkes.
