Clarence Wade
Clarence Talmadge Wade, 76, of Lula,
died Thursday, January 3, 2008, at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center in
Gainesville, following a brief illness.
He was born in Banks County on
September 8, 1931, the son of the
late John and Naomi
Holland Wade. He was
retired from Chicopee
Manufacturing as a
mill technician with
34 years of service. He was a member
and a deacon at Yonah Congregational
Holiness Church and a former mem
ber of the Hall County Board of
Education. Mr. Wade was a veteran,
having served in the United States
Army during the Korean War and was
a lifetime member of the VFW. He
enjoyed gardening and deep sea fish
ing, loved ones stated.
Mr. Wade was preceded in death by
sisters, Emma Acree, Eva Clark and
Willie Jim Wade.
Survivors include his wife, Elise
Davidson Wade, Lula; sons and daugh
ter-in-law, Ray and Sue Wade and Billy
Wade, all of Lula; grandchildren and
spouses, April and Deron Crocker,
Lula, and Chassie and Cpt. James
Corbin of the United States Army;
great-grandchildren, Jonah and Brody
Crocker, and Sidney and Amelia
Corbin; brother-in-law and wife, Jack
and Betty Haff Davidson, Lula; sis

A celebration of life was held Sunday,
January 6, at Yonah Congregational
Holiness Church with the Revs. John
Umberhant and Leon Miller officiat

George Little
George Marshall Little, 80, of
Gillsville, died Monday, January 7,
2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical
Center, following an extended illness.
Born in Franklin County, he was the
son of the late Clyde Robert and Reba
Dobbs Little and was Baptist. Mr.
Little was preceded in death by a son-
in-law, Cliff Sparrow; sisters, Bertie

and a brother, Hubert E. Little.

Zachary Joseph Quesada, 25, of
Homer, died Sunday, December 30,
2007, at his residence.
He was the son of Jack Joseph
Quesada and Margaret Hammons.

Weldon Barnett
Weldon Clifford Barnett, 66, of
Nicholson, died Monday, January 7,
2008, at his residence.
Born on October 3, 1941, in Jackson
County, he was the son of Quida
Wilson Barnett of Nicholson and the
late Otis Barnett Sr. He was a retired
brick mason and a veteran, having
served in the United
States Army.

Gilmer Glenn
Gilmer Franklin Glenn, 69, of
Maysville, died Friday, January 4,
2008.
Born on November 5, 1938, in
Jackson County, he was the son of
the late W.R. Glenn Jr. and Frances
Wilkes Glenn. He was retired from the
First Commerce Bank and was a mem
ber of the Bethany United Methodist
Church. Mr. Glenn
was a veteran,
having served in
the United States
Army.

include his wife,

Andrew Strickland
Andrew Strickland, 81, of Maysville,
died Saturday, January 5, 2008.
He was the son of the late O.G. “Bud”
and Lula Mae Saxon Strickland. He
owned and oper
ated Strickland

years. He served
as a councilman
for the City of
Maysville for over
33 years and was
a member of the
Banks County
Board of Health for many years. He
was a member of Maysville Baptist
Church, where he had served as a
deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel
Gowder Strickland, Maysville; a son
and daughter-in-law, Trent and Jo Ann
Thomas Strickland, Maysville; grand
sons and spouse, Field and Jade Klugh
Strickland, and Drew Strickland; sis
ter, Mary Sears, Commerce.
Funeral services were held Monday,
January 7, at the Maysville Baptist
Church with Dr. Bryan Stowe officiat
ing. Burial was in Jackson Memorial
Park.

Barbara Ann
Armour
Barbara Ann Armour, 64, of Homer,
died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center,
following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County
on November 8, 1943, she was the
daughter of Ethel Nation Freeman
of Cleveland and the late Clyde
Arrowood. She was employed with
Fieldale Farms, having served in the
sanitation department. She attend
ed Bethesda Fellowship Church and
loved animals and fishing.

Armour, Homer; daughter, Lois
Darlene Callenback, Cleveland; sons,

Floy Williams
Floy E. Williams, 88, of Lula, died
Monday, January 7, 2008, at her resi
dence, following a brief illness.
She was born in Jackson County,
the daughter of the late Eugene Gee
and Ollie Smith Gee. She was a mem
ber of Timber Ridge Baptist Church
and was preceded in death by her hus
band, Harry Williams; step-mother,
Ruth Gee; and brothers, Donald Gee
and B.C. Gee. Mrs. Williams was a lov
ing mother, grandmother, great-grand
mother, and great-great-grandmother
and friend, loved ones states. She was
loved by all that knew her.
Survivors include daughters and
sons-in-law, Shirley and Jack Hudgins,
Oakwood, Joan and David Waldrep,
Commerce, and Tammy and Randy
Buffington, Lula; sons and daughter-
in-law, Jimmy E. Williams, Washignton,
and Billy Ray Williams, Lula, and Harry
W. and Sandy Williams, Gainesville; 17
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;
and five great-great-grandchildren; a
sister, Peggy Gee, Gainesville; broth
ers, Larry Gee, Dahlonega, Pug Gee,
Doug Gee and Roger Gee, all of
Gainesville, Gary Gee, Gillsville; and
a host of other family and friends.

Clyde Parr
Clyde Parr, 96, of Commerce, died
Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at BJC
Nursing Home, following an extended
illness.
He was the son of the late Howell
Cobb and Cora Ledford Parr, and was
a retired barber.

'Bill' Barrett
William S. “Bill” Barrett, 82, of
Commerce, formerly of Alpharetta,
died Tuesday, January 1, 2008.
A native of Banks County, he was
the son of the late John B. and Naomi
Jones Barrett. He attended Banks
County High School and Rutgers
University. Mr. Barrett was preceded
in death by his first wife, Betty Parks
Barrett. He was former president of
the Citizens Bank of
Alpharetta, and was a
Mason and a member
of the Lions Club. He
was also co-founder and president
of the North Fulton Chamber of
Commerce, past member of the Board
of Directors of Clayton County Bank,
Gwinnett County Bank, and Cobb
County Bank. He served on the board
of directors of the Georgia March of
Dimes, the American Cancer Society,
the American Legion, the Veterans
of Foreign Wars and was an advi
sor to the Fulton County Board of
Education.
Mr. Barrett was a veteran, having
joined the United States Army at the
age of 17, serving with the 3rd Army
in the European Theater of operations
in World War II. After the Battle of the
Bulge, he transferred to the Pacific
Theatre of operations, winning the
bronze and silver star.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine
Barrett; daughter, Beth Moss; sons
and daughters-in-law, David and Pat
Barrett, Doug and Eleanor Barrett,
Jeannie Barrett, Scott Banks, Clay and
Nicollett Banks; grandchildren, David
Barrett II, Michael and Stephanie
Barrett, Paul Moss, Lindsey Moss,
Stephen and Kelly Barrett, Brian and
Christiana Barrett, Billie Barrett and
Robert Henry; and six great-grand
children.
Funeral services were held Friday,
January 4, at the Alpharetta First
United Methodist Church with Drs.
Bevel Jones and Don Martin, the Revs.
David Jones and Wade Lott officiating.
Burial was in Green Lawn Cemetery.

Ruth Dickson
Ruth Sanders Dickson, 99, of
Carnesville, died Wednesday,
December 26, 2007.
She was born in October of 1908
in Commerce, the daughter of the
late Robert L. Sanders Sr. and Pearl
Richey Sanders. She married D. Hugh
Dickson, Sr., in June of 1933, and
moved to Jonesboro, where she lived
until 1989, when she returned to live in
Commerce. For the past 10 years, she
lived with Donna Hart in Carnesville,
where she received outstanding care
and love, according to loved ones.
Survivors include children, Joan
Upton, California, and David Dickson,
Georgia; and several grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial were
held Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at
Jonesboro City Cemetery.

Fannie Bell Pitts
Fannie Bell Brock Pitts, 75, of Mt.
Airy, died Saturday, January 5, 2008,
at Northeast Georgia Medical Center
in Gainesville, following an extended
illness.
Born in Banks County on June 7,
1932, she was the daughter of the late
Joe and Minnie Broome Brock. She
was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills
with 25 years of service, and from
Carwood Manufacturing, with over 21
years of service. She was a member
of Welcome Home Baptist Church,
enjoyed planting flowers, gardening,
and spending time with friends and
family. Mrs. Pitts was preceded in
death by her husband, Grady Pitts;
daughter, Lela “Lulu” Pitts; son, David
“Shine” Brock; and several brothers
and sisters.
Survivors include daughters and
son-in-law, Shirley and Larry Taylor,
Patsy Lynn Brock and Lerlene
Dodd, all of Mt. Airy; step-daughter,
Gertrude Rider, Clarkesville; step-son,
Everett Pitts, Mt. Airy, and Robert
Pitts, Valdosta; brother, Duckett Brock,
Baldwin, and Jack Brock, Mt. Airy;
sister, Pauline Brown, Mt. Airy; grand
children, Bradley Loudermilk, Shane
R. Pitts, David Brock, Jonathan Pitts
and Leta Lomax; great-grandchildren,
Tanner and Kyler; and several nieces
and nephews.

Ruby Strange
Ruby Strange, 94, of Cornelia, died
Saturday, January 5, 2008, at her resi
dence.
Born on October 15, 1913, in Banks
County, she was the daughter of the
late Jesse Harrison and Hattie Pearl
Garrison Strange. She was a member
of the B.C. Grant Baptist Church and
was a retired seamstress at Carwood
Manufacturing with 35 years of ser
vice. She was the last of her imme
diate family. Mrs. Strange was pre
ceded in death by brothers, Clarence,
Herman, Olin, and Roy Strange; and a
sister, Bonnie Floy Croft.
Survivors include several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday,
January 7, at the Whitfield Funeral
Home with the Rev. Doyal Conley
officiating. Burial was in Yonah
Memorial Gardens.

Roy White
Roy White, 82, of Cornelia, died
Friday, January 4, 2008, at his resi
dence, following an extended illness.
Born on July 19, 1925, in Banks
County, he was the son
of the late Paul F. and
Lucy B. Moss White.
He was a member of
Hillside Baptist Church, where he
served as a deacon and Sunday school
teacher, as well as church treasurer for
the Georgia Baptist Children’s Fund.
He was retired from Johnson and
Johnson with 36 years of dedicated
service. Mr. White was preceded in
death by brothers, Fred and Wilton
White; a sister, Ruby Wood; and his
first wife, Esther Jane Parker White.
He was a veteran, having served in the
United States Army during World War
II and the Korean Conflict, and was
awarded the Purple Heart for Valor.
Survivors include his wife, Betty
White, Cornelia; step-daughter,
Carolyn Waldon, Cornelia; sons,
Johnny White, Maineville, Ohio,
Ronald White, Fayetteville; step
son, Mitchell Lewallen, Alto; sisters,
Marie Wood, Fayetteville, Ruth White,
Milledgeville; five grandchildren,
Jaime Adkins, Kyle Waldon, Megan
Ivie, Lisa Mills, and Whitney Lewallen;
and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
January 6, at Whitfield Funeral Home
with the Revs. Larry Free, Billy Burrell,
and Billy Harris officiating. Burial was
in Line Baptist Church Cemetery.

Myra McClurg
Myra McClurg, 47, of Cornelia, died
Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at her resi
dence.
She was born on October 14, 1960, in
Fulton County, and was the daughter
of E.H. McClurg of Cleveland and
Barbara Morris of Cornelia. She was
formerly employed as a secretary for
BuyOwner Real Estate Company and
did volunteer work with the homeless
shelter.
Survivors in addition to her parents,
include her husband, Gary Murray,
Cleveland; a sister, Angela McClurg,
Alto.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
January 5, at Whitfield Funeral Home
with the Revs. Paul Morris and Terry
Rice officiating. Burial was in New
Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Larry Keith
Larry Gene Keith, 65, of Hoschton,
died Monday, January 7, 2008.
A native and lifelong resident of
Jackson County, he was the son Ruby
Keith of Maysville and the late Henry
T. Keith. He was a retired poultry
worker and mill industrial worker.
Survivors in addition to his mother,
include a daughter and son-in-law,
Teresa and Keith Williams, Gainesville;
son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne
and Elizabeth Keith, Hoschton;
