Sex offender's list available on GBI, BCSO websites
The Georgia Bureau of
Investigation maintains a list of
registered sex offenders on its
website (www.ganet.org/gbi).
The GBI is the central reposi
tory for Georgia’s Violent Sexual
Offender Registry. The registry
contains information about sex
offenders who have been released
from prison, placed on probation,
parole or supervised released after
July 1, 1996. The website con
tains a search form where offend
ers may be located based on name,
city, zip code or county.
The list can also be viewed on
the Banks County Sheriff’s Office
website.
For each offender, the website
details the offender’s address,
physical description, age, date of
conviction and crime.
Most of the offenders
also have photos available.
By state law, a sex offender
will be notified by the Georgia
Department of Corrections, the
Georgia Board of Pardons &
Paroles, and/or private probation
agencies that they must register as
a sex offender with a sheriff and
their county of residence, county
of employment and county where
they are attending school.
Sexual offenders will remain on
the registry for a period of 10 years
and will receive a verification
form each year on the anniversary
of their initial registration.
Sexual predators are required to
verify their information every 90
days and remain on the registry
for life.
As of July 1, 1999, sexual
offenders who have more than one
prior conviction for an offense
listed by state law — or who have
been convicted of an aggravated
offense, such as aggravated child
molestation — will remain on the
registry for life and will receive a
verification form each year on the
anniversary of their initial regis
tration.
If the offender is enrolled,
employed or carries on a vocation
at an institution of higher educa
tion in Georgia, they are required
to provide the name, school
address or enrollment status.
Offenders who move to another
state are required to report to the
sheriff’s office where they last
registered with in the state, and to
designate a law enforcement agen
cy in their new state of residence.
Offenders who move to another
county in Georgia, are required
to register with the sheriff of their
new county of residence in addi
tion to notifying the sheriff of their
previous county of residence.

Reaching thousands of children.
Focusing on one overriding goal.
Teaching respect for our environment.
The NEW Waste Management.
Because today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders, we go out of
our way to help them develop a genuine respect for the
environment we all share. That’s why the NEW Waste
Management provides videos, CDs and other teaching tools to
help students of all ages understand how environmental
awareness is at the heart of what we do every day.
We show them how state-of-the-art engineering techniques help
us safely maintain and restore landfills into usable green
spaces. How we use advanced optical sorting technologies to
efficiently recycle plastics and glass. And how we transform
common waste products into uncommonly clean energy that
powers homes and businesses.
We partner with communities all across North America to
educate students about our environment and the steps we are
taking to safeguard it for generations to come. It’s another way
we’re making a difference. One community at a time.
From everyday collection to environmental protection, look to
the NEW Waste Management.
