Ruth Loudermilk
Ruth Segars Loudermilk, 82, of
Cornelia, died Tuesday, February
12, 2008, at Habersham County
Medical Center.
Born in Banks County on June
4, 1925, she was the daughter of
the late Will and Lou Ausburn
Segars. She was employed at the
City of Cornelia Library as a
library assistant and was a mem
ber of Cornelia Christian Church.
Mrs. Loudermilk was preceded
in death by a brother, Hershel
Segars; and sisters, Willie Jordan,
Dessie Bennett, Rushie Jordan,
Mellie White, Ruby Mote and
Bertha Davidson.
Survivors include a daughter
and son-in-law, Sharon and Ray
Stratton, Clarkesville; grand
daughter and spouse, Celeste and
Chad Johnson, Mt. Airy; great-
grandson, Michael Johnson; sis
ters, Lessie Mote, Baldwin, and
Reba Parker, Lula; and niece,
Mylessa Zimmerman, Cornelia.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, February 13, in
the chapel of McGahee-Griffin
& Stewart Funeral Home with
David Terrell officiating. Burial
was in the VFW Memorial Park
with Dr. Bill Cashion officiating.

Ralph Parker
Ralph William Parker, 73, of
Homer, died Monday, February
11, 2008, at his resi
dence.
Born in Asheville,
N.C., he was the
son of the late James and Martha
Jones Parker. Mr. Parker was a vet
eran, having served in the United
States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Clara
Brackett Parker, Homer; daughter
and son-in-law, Melody and Floyd
Livers, North Carolina.
Memorial services will be held
Saturday, February 16, at 2 p.m.,
at his residence, 379 Caudell Rd.,
Homer.

Bill Morris
Bill Morris, 84, of Alto, died
Monday, February 11, 2008, at his
residence.
Born on December 6, 1923, in
Stephens County, he was the son
of the late Amos Allen and Mollie
Ruth Jackson Morris. He was a
member of the Bethlehem Baptist
Church in Lula, was a truck driver
with 35 years of service, and
employed with Whitfield Funeral
Home with 22 years of dedicated
service. Mr. Morris was preceded
in death by his first wife, Mildred
Hall Morris; his second wife,
Velma Inez Prescott Morris; and a
brother, Cy “Tubby” Morris.
Survivors include step-daugh
ters, Phyllis Free, Folkston, and
Mary Adams, Toccoa; a son,
Edward Hall, Acworth; step-sons,
Darrell Edenfield, Homer, Pete
Edenfield, Jacksonville, Fla., and
Rod Johnson, Charleston, S.C.;
brother, Allen Morris, Cornelia;
special nephew, Mack Morris,
Lula; and several grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, February 13, at
Whitfield Funeral Home with
the Revs. Darvin Slaton, Jewell
Thomas and Herb Snedden offici
ating. Burial was in the Bethlehem
Baptist Church Cemetery in Lula.

James Francis Eaden, 77, of
Maysville, died Friday, February
8, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in
Atlanta.
Born in Henderson, Ky., he
was the son of the late William
Claude and Peachie Sutton Eaden.

ing served in the United States

'Jim' Dunn
James Joseph Dunn, 73, died
Thursday, February 7, 2008.
He was born December 8, 1934,
in Massillon, Ohio, and attended
Central Catholic High School.
He was a 1957
graduate of John
Carroll University
in Cleveland, Ohio,
and attended George Washington
University Law School. Mr. Dunn
was a veteran, having served in
the United States Army as a coun
ter intelligence agent.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria
Redmond Dunn, Maysville; sons,
James J. Dunn II, Buford, Timothy
K. Dunn, Stone Mountain, and
Terrance M. Dunn, Flowery
Branch; a step-son, Joe M. Topia
II, Maysville; nine grandchildren;
and two step-grandchildren.
A memorial mass was held
Monday, February 11, at St. Monica
Catholic Church in Duluth with
the Rev. Jack Durkin officiating.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the American Heart
Association or the American
Cancer Society.

'TJ' Flynn
Tommy Larry “TJ” Flynn, Jr., 28,
of Nicholson, died Wednesday,
February 6, 2008, following inju
ries sustained in an automobile
accident.
Born in Clarke County, he was
the son of Tommy Larry Flynn Sr.
and Linda Miller Flynn.
Survivors in addition to his par
ents, include a son, Timothy Elijah
Flynn, Asheville, N.C.; step-sis
ters, Joanna Willis, Ila, and Tammy
Arnold, Winterville; several aunts,
uncles, nieces and nephews from
North Carolina and Georgia.
Graveside services were held
Saturday, February 9, at Black
Cemetery in Hull with the Rev.
Kelby Maxwell officiating.

Jane Ann Clark
Jane Ann Stewart Clark, 70, of
Alto, died Saturday, February 9,
2008, at her residence, following
an extended illness.
Born in Ida, La., on January 5,
1938, she was the daughter of the
late James Columbus Stewart and
Carmel Edna Little Tunnel. She
was a homemaker and attended
the Church of Christ. Mrs. Clark
was preceded in death by a son,
James Randy Clark; and a broth
er, James Stewart.
Survivors include daughters,
Rona Rigsby, Huntland, Tenn.,
and Renee Holbert, Shreveport,
La.; sons, Ronald Stewart Clark,
Gillsville, Russell Clark and
Riley Clark, both of Alto, Darryl
Clark, Demorest; a sister, Doris
Marcel Alexander, Bivins, Texas.;
21 grandchildren; and 2 great
grandchildren.
Private memorial services will
be held at a later date.

Charles Barrett
Charles E. Barrett, 79, of
Stockbridge, died Wednesday,
February 6, 2008.
Born in Banks County, he was
the son of the late
William and Myrtle
Allen Barrett. He
decided at a very
early age he did not like working
in the cotton mills in Gainesville,
so he became a merchant sea
men. Over a career of 35 years,
he advanced from a deckhand to
a ship’s master, transporting oil
and grain around the world.
Survivors include a sister, Bessie
Wheeler, Ila; a nephew, Ronnie
Wilkie, Ila; and a niece, Leida
Fitzpatrick McDonough.
Graveside services were held
at Jackson Memorial Garden
Sunday, February 10.

Charles Cook
Charles Elmer Cook, 80, of
Gainesville, died Thursday,
February 7, 2008, at the Bell-Minor
Home, following an extended ill
ness.
Born in Hall County, he was
the son of the late
William Dave and
Essie Ledford Cook.
He was retired from
General Motors and attended
Free Chapel Worship Center. He
was a veteran, having served in
the United States Army. Mr. Cook
was preceded in death by a sis
ter, Nettie Shuler; and brothers,
Roscoe Cook, Royce Cook and
Aubrey Cook.
Survivors include his lov
ing wife of 57 years, Jeanette
McIntyre Cook, Gainesville; sons
and daughters-in-law, Rick and
Darla Cook, Tuscaloosa, Ala., and
Tony and Judy Cook, Cumming;
grandson and wife, Shane and
Kelly Cook, Hendersonville, N.C.;
grandson, Josh Cook; granddaugh
ters, Katie Cook and Anna Cook;
sisters, Joan Townsend, Lula, and
Shirley Grant, Gainesville; and a
host of other family and friends.

Sunday, February 10, in the chapel
of Memorial Park Funeral Home
with the Revs. Hugh Skelton and
J.D. Sosebee officiating. Burial
was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Royce Higgins
Royce Higgins, 75, of Alto, died
Friday, February 8, 2008, at the
Habersham County Medical
Center.
Born on April 25, 1932, in Banks
County, he was the son of the late
Ferd and Lula Martin Higgins.
He was a member of Damascus
Baptist Church, where he was
a deacon and taught Sunday
School. He was a member of
the Hollingsworth Lodge #355
F&AM, a member of the Banks
County AARP, and a member and
artist at the Tallulah Falls Co-Op
Craft Store, as well as a mem
ber of the United Commercial
Travelers. He was owner and
operator of several service sta
tions for over 50 years, including
the Rebel Standard/Chevron in
Baldwin for 20 years. Mr. Higgins
was preceded in death by broth
ers, Frank “Buddy” Higgins and
Bobby Higgins; sisters, Martha
“Mott’ Garner, Betty “Sweet Pea”
Farmer, and Brenda Higgins.
Survivors include his wife,
Dorothy Hogsed Higgins, Alto;
son and daughter-in-law, Craig
Royce and Ann Higgins, Rye,
N.Y.; sister, Peggy Payne, Baldwin;
brothers, Billy Higgins, Alto,
Johnny Higgins, Lincolnton, N.C.,
PrestonHiggins, Eatonton, Donald
Higgins and Melvin Higgins, both
of Cornelia; and three grandchil
dren, Caroline, Andrew and Abby
Higgins, all of Rye, N.Y.

Monday, February 11, at the
Damascus Baptist Church with
the Revs. Gene Todd and Craig
Higgins officiating. Burial was in
the church cemetery.

Sarah Tench
Sarah Catherine Tench, 88, of
Alto, died Saturday, February 9,
2008, at a local area hospital, fol
lowing an extended illness.
She was born on August 25,
1919, the daughter of the late
W.B. and Lily Mae Meister Dalton.
She was a homemaker and mem
ber of the Level Grove Baptist
Church. Mrs. Tench was preceded
in death by her husband, the Rev.
Hoyt O. Tench; a son, Tony Tench;
and sisters, Mildred Watson and
Annabelle Tomlin.
Survivors include daughters
and sons-in-law, Linda and Don
Denmon, Powder Springs, Cheryl
and Ken Gordon, Demorest;
seven grandchildren; and 18 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Monday, February 11, at the
Bethlehem Baptist Church with
Dr. Bill Cashion and the Revs.
Tommy Stowe and Billy Burrell
officiating. Burial was in Level
Grove cemetery.

C. Harry Rudasill
Dr. C. Harry Rudasill, 71, of
Cornelia, died Tuesday, February
5, 2008.
Born in DeKalb County on May
4, 1936, he was the son of the late
Homer Dewey and Orene Faith
Rudasill. He was in the pastorate
for over 30 years, with 22 years
of faithful service at Camp Creek
Baptist Church. He was a gradu
ate of’ Baptist Bible College in
Springfield, Mo., with a bachelors
degree and also held a doctor
ate degree from Heritage Baptist
University. He was preceded in
death by brothers, James Dewey
Rudasill and William H. Rudasill.
He was an avid outdoorsman
who enjoyed spending quality
time with his family, church fam
ily and friends, according to loved
ones.
Survivors include his wife of
53 years, A. Carolyn Rudasill,
Cornelia; daughter and son-
in-law, Kimberly and Clyde
Parliament, Mt. Airy; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Frances Key,
Stockbridge, Joyce Jones and
Jeanette and James Steadman, all
of Snellville, Florence and Bobby
Jones and Gail and Len Cornell,
all of Stockbridge; grandchildren,
A.J. and Madison; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, February 14, at Camp
Creek Baptist Church with
the Revs. H.D. Van Wye, Gene
Wiggins and Bill Barrs officiating.
Burial will be in the church cem
etery with the Rev. Terry Hicks
officiating.
