WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2008 THE BANKS COUNTY NEWS PAGE 7B Show You Know event held at Banks County Primary School B anks County Primary School held its first ever Show You Know Drawing on Friday, February 15. Along with Fantastic Friday, which awards “Perfect Attendance for the Week,” teachers incorpo rated Susan B. Anthony Day to springboard drawing. This year, the primary school has implemented nine-weeks benchmarks to track students’ educational progress. These benchmarks allow the teachers to target strengths and weaknesses in academic achievement and adjust instruc tion in needed areas. Once a week students participate in rotation activities which reinforce weak areas. One skill identified was in the area of money and thus spurred the idea for our first “Show You Know Drawing.” Freedom Bank donated 10 Susan B. Anthony coins to be given for prizes. Nine money questions were developed for kindergarten, first and second grad ers. Posters were designed for each question and displayed in the hall for students to analyze and answer. A drawing was held from submitted answers and those students with the correct responses received the Susan B. Anthony dollars. This activity provided students with a fun way to practice GPS stan dards, officials said.
