Grace Darnell Williams, 86, of
Baldwin, died Sunday, February 17,
2008, at a private health care facil
ity
Born in Habersham County on
February 25, 1921, she was the daugh
ter of the late John and Katie Taylor
Darnell, was retired from Scovill
Manufacturing, and was a member
of Currahee Baptist Church. Mrs.
Williams was preceded in death by
brothers, Thurmond, Paul, Clarence
and Nace Darnell; and sisters, Beulah
Murphy and Addie Barrett.
Survivors include her husband,
the Rev. Luther Williams, Baldwin;
daughter and son-in-law, Jean and
James Meeler, Cornelia; sons, J.
Williams, Salt Lake City, Ut., and
Darrell L. Williams, Baldwin; a grand
daughter, Kristy Meeler, Athens.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, February 20, at Whitfield
Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy
Lee Mitchell and Larry Forrester
officiating. Burial was in Yonah
Memorial Gardens.

Eddie Bridges
Eddie Willard Bridges, 75, of
Commerce, died Monday, February
18, 2008.
He was born in Jackson County,
son of the late Richard and Nancy
Clemmons Fleeman Bridges, and
was a member of
Berea Baptist Church.
He was a United
States war veteran of
the Korean Conflict, and a plant
engineer.
Survivors include daughters, Susan
Bruce, Commerce, Kathy Wilbanks,
Jefferson, and Laurie Brown, Lula;
brothers, Julian and Jimmy Bridges,
both of Commerce; a sister, Virginia
Stowe, Commerce; eight grandchil
dren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, February 20, at the
Berea Baptist Church with the Rev.
Verlin Reese officiating. Burial was
in the Jackson Memorial Gardens.

William McClure
William Howard McClure, Sr., 88,
of Maysville, died Friday, February
15, 2008, at Oak
Heritage.
He was born in
White County, the
son of the late Walter
E. and Myrtle Johnson McClure.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel
Baptist Church and was retired
from the Georgia Department of
Transportation. Mr. McClure was a
veteran, having served in the United
States Navy, during World War II. He
was preceded in death by his wife,
Emma Lois Craig McClure; and a
son, William Howard McClure, Jr.
Survivors include daughters,
Rumelle Wood, Commerce, Joan
Simmons, Clarksville, and Jean
Wade, Homer; a son, James McClure,
Commerce; sisters, Faye Lindsay
and Mary Hayes, both of Maysville;
brothers, Ray McClure, Maysville,
and Lloyd McClure, Jefferson; nine
grandchildren; two great-grandchil
dren; seven great-great-grandchil
dren; and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
February 17, in the chapel of Little-
Ward Funeral Home with the Revs.
Ralph O. Smith, Harold Ledford,
and William Simmons officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Baptist
Church cemetery.

Willie
Westmoreland
Willie Gertrude Westmoreland, 91,
of Ila, died Wednesday, February 13,
2008, at her residence, following an
extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late
William Jeff and Rosetta Wilkins
West. Mrs. Westmoreland was pre
ceded in death by her husband,
Tillman Westmoreland; and sons,
Franklin Westmoreland and Bobby
Westmoreland.
Survivors include sons, Clyde
Westmoreland, Ila, and Johnny
Westmoreland, Commerce; daugh
ter, Gail Brown, Danielsville; sister,
Adell Peeler, Hartwell; eight grand
children; and eight great-grandchil
dren.
Funeral services were held Friday,
February 15, at Ila Baptist Church
with the Revs. Tim Peek and Barney
Williams officiating. Burial was in
the Grey Hill Cemetery.

John Kesler
John Thomas Kesler, 67, of
Nicholson, died Thursday, February
14, 2008, at Cobb Healthcare Center.
Born in Jackson County, the son
of the late Bethel and Annie Mae
Alexander Kesler, he was a retired
carpenter and was Baptist. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Linda
Faye Seagraves Kesler.
Survivors include sons, Danny
Kesler, Commerce, Kim Kesler and
Kirby Kesler, both of Nicholson,
and Derrick Kesler, Hull; daughters,
Leslie Kesler, Nicholson, and Lisa
Abbott, Colbert; brothers, Garnett
Kesler and Wilburn Kesler, both of
Nicholson; sisters, Sarah Jackson,
Warner Robbins, and Barbara Jean
Matthews, Nicholson; and six grand
children.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, February 16, in the chapel
of Little-Ward Funeral Home with
the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating.
Burial was in Howington Cemetery.

Richard “Dick” Weber, 88, of Lula,
died Wednesday, February 13, 2008.

Eberhart
Deborah Jane Kelly Eberhart, 52, of
Britthaven Nursing Home in Snow
Hill, N.C., previously from Banks
County, died Sunday, February 17,
2008.
She was born in Charleston, W.Va.,
on July 14, 1955, the daughter of the
late David Kelly and Lyda Neeley
Kelly of Greenville, S.C. Prior to
moving to eastern North Carolina,
she lived in Warner Robins. Mrs.
Eberhart was preceded in death by
her husband, Gary Eberhart; and a
step-son, Dean Eberhart.
Survivors in addition to her moth
er, include sisters, Laura Whitehurst,
Greenville, S.C., and Kim Kelly,
Gaithersburg, Md.; brothers,
Christopher Kelly, Warner Robins,
and David Kelly II, Wilson, N.C.; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Wednesday, February 20, at 6 p.m., in
the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral
Service, 117 NW Third St., Snow Hill,
N.C. Graveside services will be held
Friday, February 22, at 11 a.m., at the
Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery in
Talmo.

Luther Casper
Luther David Casper, 97, of Winder,
died February 15, 2008.
He was born in Oconee, son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Emory William
and Rena Harris Casper. He was the
oldest living member of Midway
Christian Church. He was a former
Deacon at Midway and a member of
the Sunday School Class. He was a
former member of Oddfellows. He
was preceded in death by his wife,
Winnie Corene Clack Casper.
Survivors include son and daugh
ter-in-law, Larry and Lillie Casper,
Winder; granddaughter, Lynne
Hamilton; grandson, Steve Casper;
three great-grandchildren, Victoria
Casper; Corrie Hamilton and Jacob
Hamilton; a brother, R.B. Casper,
Winder.
Funeral services were held Sunday,
February 17, in Smith Memory Chapel
with the Revs. John Burchfield and
Ralph Posey officiating. Burial was
in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

James Burton
James Howard Burton, 88, of
Cornelia, and formerly of Marietta,
died Saturday, February 16, 2008, at
his residence.
He was born on January 9, 1920
in Cobb County, to the late Lee and
Mozelle Newsome Burton. He was a
graduate of the Marietta High School
and was a three sport athlete. He
was a member of the Cornelia First
Baptist Church, where he was a mem
ber of the Southern
Baptist Men’s Sunday
School Class and
Past President of the
Chosen Few. Mr. Burton was retired
from the United States Army after
serving 23 years and having served
in World War II and the Korean
Conflict. He was also a retired Civil
Service employee with over 20
years of service. He was preceded
in death by his wife Irene Morris
Burton; a sister, Mildred B. Hendrix;
a grandson, Ross Andrew Brock; and
a great-granddaughter, Rachel Brock.
He was the last of his immediate
family.
Survivors include his daughter and
son-in-law, Peggy and Lester Brock,
Alto; his son and daughter-in-law Dr.
Jodie and Shirley Burton, Cornelia;
four grandchildren, Michael Burton,
Cornelia, Carey Brock and Greg
Brock, both of Alto; Alicia Brock
Wells, Cumming; six great-grandchil
dren.
Graveside services were held
Monday, February 18, at Kennesaw
Memorial Park with the Revs. Greg
Walton and David Turner officiat
ing.

Johnny Sheridan
Johnny W. Sheridan, 58, of
Crawford, died Monday, February
11, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical
Center in Athens.
Born in Jackson County, he was
the son of the late William Carl and
Cota Wade Sheridan.
Survivors include his wife,
Janice Sheridan; children, Tim
Sheridan and David Sheridan, both
of Athens, Cindy Hill, Lexington,
and Johnny Sheridan II, Crawford;
brothers, Richard Lee, Jefferson,
Jerry Sheridan, Lexington, and
Terry Sheridan, Commerce; a sis
ter, Patricia Ann Herring, Lexington;
seven grandchildren; and one great-
granddaughter.

Lelar Bell Sanders, 65, of Cornelia,
died Thursday, February 14, 2008,
at her residence, following a brief
illness.
Born in Gwinnett County, on
October 21, 1942, she was the daugh
ter of the late Ezra W. Tumlin and
Kate Martin Tumlin of Lawrenceville.
She was a homemaker, and was pre
ceded in death by a sister, Shirley
Shirley.
Survivors in addition to her
mother, include a daughter, Rebecca
Williams, Clayton; sons, Robert
Taylor, Clayton, and Joseph Sanders,
Cornelia; brothers, Wayne Tumlin,
Blue Ridge, Joseph Ezra Tumlin,
Alto, John Tumlin, Cornelia, and
Raymond Tumlin, Auburn; sisters,
Gladys Wallace, Lawrenceville, and
Elizabeth Hall, Monroe; grandchil
dren, Kelsey, Kagan, Kaden, and
Tyson Taylor, Ariel Price, Courtney
Sanders, Austin Mendenhall,
Johnathon Sanders; and expecting
a great-granddaughter, Gloria Marie
Taylor.

John P. Johnson III, 63, of
Homosassa, Fla., died Sunday,
February 10, 2008, at his residence.
He was born on September 8, 1944,
at Pinellas County, Fla., the son of
the late John P. Jr. Johnson and Ruth
Parker Johnson. He was a construc
tion carpenter.
Survivors include a brother, Cliff
Johnson, Homasassa, Fla.; and a sis
ter, Barbara Farmer, Nicholson.

Lionel Hart, 81, of Toccoa, died
Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at
Stephens County Medical Center,
following an extended illness.
He was born in Banks County
on September 25, 1926, the son
of the late Will T.
Dodd Hart. He was
self-employed in the
amusement industry
and was Holiness. Mr.
Hart was a veteran, having served
in the United States Army during
World War II. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Irma Davis Hart;
brothers, Nathanial and Archie Hart;
and sisters, Winnie Echols, Lucille
Ferguson and Marcelle Hart.
Survivors include brothers and sis-
ters-in-law, Kenneth and Geraldine
Hart, Cornelia, Roe and Lurlene Hart
and Grady and Gail Hart, all of Alto;
sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and
Buddy Underwood, Alto, and Hazel
and Harold Crumley, Atlanta; and
several nieces and nephews.

Willonell Reed Gilstrap, 78, of
Oakwood, died Sunday, February
17, 2008, at New Horizon’s North
Nursing Home, following an extend
ed illness.
She was a lifelong resident of
Hall County, the daughter of the
late William Rivers and Ruby Nell
Lancaster Reed. She was a member
of Hopewell Baptist Church and was
retired from Milliken, Gainesville
Mill.

and son-in-law, Joy Gilstrap Smith,
Gainesville, Kay and Robie Bowen,
Buford; sons, Tony Gilstrap and
Ricky Gilstrap, both of Oakwood;

with Holiday Inn.

Beulah Beaty Head, 81, of Cornelia,
died Monday, February 18, 2008, at
her residence, following an extend
ed illness.
Born in Washington, on February
23, 1926, she was the daughter of the
late C.H. and Alma Kelly Beaty. She
was a homemaker, and an avid gar
dener who enjoyed planting flowers,
according to loved ones. She was a
member of Hillside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband,
Dewey Head, Cornelia; a daugh
ter, Beverly Jordan, Alpharetta; son,
Herbert Head, Cornelia; sisters,
Dorothy Poole, Cornelia, Kathryn
Farris, Tuscon, Ariz., and Glenda
Craven, Macon; and grandchil
dren, Katie Head, Cornelia, and
Christopher Head, Gainesville.

Robert Webb
Robert B. Webb, 97, of Demorest,
died Friday, February 15, 2008, at a
local medical center.
Born on August 12, 1910, in
Habersham County, he was the son
of the late Mack and Lou Vinson
Webb. He was retired from the US
Postal Service, having been a rural
mail carrier with the Demorest
Post Office for 19 years, and was
formerly employed with Chicopee
Manufacturing, with 17 years of ser
vice. He was a member of the Return
Baptist Church, and was preceded
in death by his wife, Pauline Meeks
Webb. He was the last member of
his immediate family.
Survivors include a daughters and
son-in-law, the Rev. Walter Burrell
and Pat Burrell, and Linda Webb, all
of Demorest; son and daughter-in
law, Robert Larry and Brenda Webb,
Yankeetown, Fla.; nine grandchil
dren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Monday, February 18, at Whitfield
Funeral Home with the Revs. Billy
Burrell and Walter Burrell officiating.
Burial was in Camp Creek Baptist
Church Cemetery.
