A Madison County man was
arrested early Monday morning
and charged with theft in the con
nection of the taking of a dump
truck from a location off Ridgeway
Church Road.
A call was received at the Banks
County 911 center as a caller
reported hearing machinery being
operated in the area. Due to the
time of the call, Banks County
Sheriff’s Office deputies respond
ed to the scene and located two
duel pickup trucks with gooseneck
trailers. One had a Bobcat on it
while another had a dump truck
on it.
Two suspects fled the scene but
BCSO deputies arrested Stacey
Bryan Duffell, 39, of Madison
County. BCSO officials believe
Duffell and his accomplices used
A Commerce woman contacted
the Banks County Sheriff’s Office
last week with claims that her ex
boyfriend was stalking her while
she was at work.
The incident was one of sev
eral reported last week. The BCSO
also responded to the following
domestic-related incidents during
the past week:
•verbal dispute at a Duplex Drive
residence.
Copper wire
stolen from
construction
company
Large amounts of copper wire
were stolen from a construction
company on Hwy. 51 South last
week and the investigation into the
incident continues.
Banks County sheriff Charles
Chapman said this week deputies
responded to a call March 5 at the
Tugalo Construction Company after
the plant manager found the site had
been broken into. The lock on the
gate leading into the property had
been broken and one of the larger
transformer boxes had been opened
with the copper wiring removed.
There was also damage to other
breaker boxes at the location. Power
had been turned off to the electri
cal boxes. The door to the com
pany office was also pried open with
additional damage found to electri
cal boxes inside. The BCSO has
been in contact with various places
which sell and buy copper wiring.
Anyone with information on this
incident is asked to contact the
BCSO at 706-677-2248.
