THIRD GRADE CITIZENS OF THE MONTH
These students have been chosen by their third grade teachers at Banks County Elementary
School for Citizen of the Month during February. Students include, front row, Kelsey Eliason,
Taylor Anderson, Austin Spivey, Hollie Wagner, Seth Higdon and McKinley Bramlett, back row,
Whitney Sheridan, Kathy Nguyen, Mayben Alexander, Hannah Baker, Jordan Saville, Chandler
Kennedy and Autumn Pruitt.
FFA MARKETING TEAM
The Banks County FFA Agriculture Marketing team recently competed in the area contest held
at North Oconee High School in Bogart. The Agricultural Sales CDE is a team event, designed
to develop the skills that are necessary to be successful in sales. These include communication
skills, product knowledge, sales process and maintaining customers. The BCHS team placed third
in the area event.

UGA offering summer camps for kids
The University of Georgia Center for Continuing
Education is accepting enrollments for the 2008
Summer Academy at UGA (SAUGA).
SAUGA is a series of summer day camps designed
to keep the minds and bodies of 10-to-17-year-olds
active during summer break. Camps begin the week
of June 2, and are held at the Georgia Center, 1197
S. Lumpkin St., Athens.
Since 2001, SAUGA has welcomed more than 300
campers and has provided fun instructional activities
in a wide range of subjects. Programs are divided
into one and two-week sessions. Space is limited,
and pre-registration is required.
This year’s new camp offerings include:
•Sing Your Heart Out: An “American Idol”-style
voice workshop
•Young Actors Camp: Taught by Lisa Mende, an
actress who appeared on “Seinfeld,” an Emmy-award
winning TV series
•Mini Medical School: Campers will “perform sur-
gery” on mock specimens, take medical board exams,
review X-rays, visit a dentist office and more
•Rockin’ Rockets: Explore aerodynamics and phys
ics
•Young Point of View: in-depth photography camp
•Screenwriting and Production
Other popular returning camps include
DAWGWarts, a Harry Potter-themed camp; video
production camp, comic book creation and cartoon
ing camp.
