As I talk to people everyday, I’ve
come to realize that most of us
are faced with some sort
of problem in our lives.
Some are dealing with the
death of a loved one, a
physical ailment, a child
or grandchild who seems
to be heading down the
wrong path, and many
other things. I know many
of our readers are going
through things as well.
Today, I hope to give you
a word of encouragement.
I’ll be the first to tell
you that I don’t have all the answers
but you see I know someone who
does. I am thankful to have a rela
tionship with the Lord, and I find
myself looking to His unfailing
Word as I seek to help people along
whatever path they find themselves
involved in.
As I began to pray and ask the
Lord for guidance in handling some
of the situations my friends have
found themselves in, I was taken
back to the Old Testament. There I
was reminded that our hope is in the
Lord. He will guide us, help us, and
sustain us, no matter what happens
in our lives.
In 2 Chronicles 20, there is a story
about King Jehoshaphat who found
out that an army was coming against
him and the people of Judah. When
he heard about it, he called every
man, woman, boy and girl together
and he proclaimed a fast and asked
the people to begin to seek the Lord.
They did and they heard from Him.
If you read the text, you will see
that the Lord told them exactly what
the enemy had planned for them and
He gave them a word of encourage
ment.
In verse 15, we hear these words,
“Do not be afraid or discouraged
because of this vast army. For the
battle is not yours, but
God’s; and in verse 17 we
hear, “Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged. Go
out to face them tomor
row, and the Lord will be
with you.”
They began to wor
ship and praise the Lord
for His guidance. The
next day, the day of the
battle, King Jehoshaphat
appointed people to
sing to the Lord and
praise Him. That is when the Lord
set ambushes and the enemy was
defeated.
Does this message still work for
us today? You better believe it does.
The Word of God is the same yes
terday, today and forever my friend.
So if you are going through a trial
this day, or when one come along,
remember the battle is not yours—it
belongs to the Lord. So why don’t
you began to worship and praise
the Lord for what is He is going to
do in your situation and watch Him
work. Nothing is too big for God.
Whatever your circumstance, what
ever your situation, always remem
ber the Lord is there to guide you.
As good as our friends are and as
wonderful as our family is, there are
times that they cannot be with you.
Please hold on to the fact that the
Lord will never leave you nor for
sake you. He is a friend that sticks
closer than a brother. So what
ever you face in life, follow King
Jehoshaphat’s example, and remem
ber the battle belongs to the Lord.
