Henry Sorrow
Henry Paul Sorrow, 51, of Commerce,
died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his resi
dence.
He was the son of the late Frank T.
and Modell Bakes Sorrow. Mr. Sorrow
was preceded in death by a brother,
Frank (Bimbo) Sorrow.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie
Sorrow, Commerce; Christopher and
Joshua Sorrow, Commerce; a grand
son, Chase Austin Sorrow, Homer;
sisters, Janice Sheridan, Crawford,
Lawana Sorrow, Athens; and brother,
Mark Sorrow, Crawford.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, April 16, at Danielsville
Baptist Church.

Roy Brand
Roy Lacy (R.L.) Brand, 95, of
Commerce, died Tuesday, April 8,
2008, at BJC Nursing home.
Born in Cobb County, he was the
son of the late O.B. and Elizabeth
Lacy Brand and was a member of
the First United Methodist Church
of Commerce. He was a retired rural
mail carrier. Mr. Brand was preceded
in death by two sons-in-law, William
C. Smith and Charles Farrell.
Survivors include his wife,
Margaret Greene Brand, Commerce;
daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen
Smith, Commerce, and Rose Farrell,
Covington, Joan and Edward Leichner,
Shelbyville, Tenn., and Nancy and
Jimmy Moore, Adel; 10 grandchildren;
and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday,
April 11, at the First United Methodist
Church of Commerce with the Dr.
David Bowen officiating. Burial was in
Jackson Memorial Gardens.

Harold London
Harold L. London, 76, of Cornelia,
died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at an area
medical center.
Born on July 15, 1931, in White
County, he was the son of the late
Joseph Franklin and Lola Smith
London. He was a member of the
Double Springs Baptist Church, where
he served as a deacon for 54 years. He
was a retired inspector at Schnadig
Corporation with 45 years of service.
Mr. London was preceded in death
by sisters, Martha Weaver, Della Mae
London and Pearl Mogene London;
and brothers, James F. London and
Terrell Eugene London.
Survivors include his wife, Corene
Tench London, Cornelia; daughters
and sons-in-law, Gail and James
Mealer, Baldwin, Patsy and Glenn Rice,
Demorest, and Portia and Ronnie Hill,
Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law,
Edwin and Rolanda London, Cornelia;
brothers, Robert London, Cleveland,
Marvin London, Mt. Airy; six grand
children; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday,
April 11, at the Whitfield Funeral
Home with the Rev. Royce Winters
officiating. Burial was in the Demorest
City Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth
McEntire officiating at the graveside.

Winnie Seagraves
Winnie Seagraves, 77, of Commerce,
died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
She was born in Banks County on
July 14, 1930, the daughter of the late
Paul and Ora Vesta Wilson Davis.
She was a homemaker and attend
ed Harmony Christian Church. Mrs.
Seagraves was preceded in death by
her husband, William M. Seagraves.
Survivors include a daughter,
Amanda Payne, Commerce; son and
daughter-in-law, Mike and Vicki
Seagraves, Carnesville; daughter and
son-in-law, Linda and Bill Nunnally,
Winterville; grandson and spouse, Brad
and Brandi Seagraves, Carnesville;
great-grandchildren, Bailee and Brylee
Seagraves, Carnesville; sister, Hazel
Bridges, Snellville; special friend,
George Sailors.
Funeral services were held Friday,
April 11, in the chapel of Little-Ward
Funeral Home with Jerry Payne offici
ating. Burial was at Jackson Memorial
Gardens.

Pearl Gunn
Pearl Teague Gunn, 54, of Demorest,
died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at
Emory University Hospital, following
an extended illness.
Born in Union County on October
30, 1953, she was the daughter of the
late Tom and Mary Linda Tow Teague.
She was employed with Ethicon with
30 years of dedicated service, and was
a member of The Torch and a volun
teer with Operation Care. She also
enjoyed golf, attending church and
serving God, loved ones stated. Mrs.
Gunn was preceded in death by her
husband, William Gunn; and brothers,
Jack, Loy and Earl Teague.
Survivors include a son, Douglas
James Gunn, Baldwin; brothers, Lewis
Teague, Cleveland, Edward Teague,
Carnesville, Jerry Teague, Jefferson;
sisters, Grapell Harkins, Blairsville,
Lula Bell Davis and Shirley Adams,
both of Dahlonega, Geneva Nix,
Cleveland; grandchildren, April
Gunn, Nathan Gunn, Shelby Gunn,
Levi Gunn; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
April 15, at The Torch with the Revs.
James Franklin, Ronald Wilson, and
Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Burial
was in the Demorest City Cemetery.

Robert Ausburn
Robert Neil Ausburn, 60, of
Demorest, died Friday, April 11, 2008,
at BJC Medical Center in Commerce.
He was born in Stephens County
on June 14, 1947, the son of the late
Dorsey and Evelyn
Hicks Ausburn. He
was a veteran, having
served in the United
States Army in the Vietnam Conflict,
retired from the United States Reserve.
He retired as a uniform patrol ser
geant with the Banks County Sheriff's
Office, and formerly served as Major
with the Baldwin Police Department.
Survivors include his wife, Verena
Brown Ausburn, Cornelia; daugh
ter and son-in-law, Kenree and
Michael Sampson, Cornelia; son,
Cale Ausburn, Cornelia; sister, Nan
Holleyman, Lakeland, Fla.; brother,
Brian Ausburn, Clarkesville; two niec
es; and one nephew.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
April 15, at Whitfield Funeral Home
with Charles Chapman and the Rev.
Luther Williams officiating. Burial
was in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church
Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Morris
officiating and full military honors
provided by the Habersham County
American Legion Post #84 and Rabun
County DAV Chapter 15.

Tina Price
Tina Lee Price, 52, of Jefferson, died
Friday, April 11, 2008, at her resi
dence.
She was born in Shawnee County,
Kan., the daughter of the late Dana
and Jeanette Tracey Allegree. She was
employed with Southeast Toyota.
Survivors include her husband,
George S. Price, Jefferson; son,
Brandon Allman, Athens; daughter,
Shannon Lester, Jefferson; brother,
Daryl Allegree, Kansas City, Mo.; sis
ters, Myra Combes, Ft. Wayne, Ind.,
Georgia Poole and Debbie Harrell,
both of Indianapolis, Ind.; two grand

Thelma Frazer
Thelma Crow Frazer, 78, of Flowery
Branch, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008,
at Northeast Georgia Medical Center
in Gainesville, following an extended
illness.
She was born in Gwinnett County,
the daughter of the late G.C. “Jim”
Crow and Edith Kimbrell Crow and
was a member of Poplar Springs
Baptist Church. Mr. Frazier was
preceded in death by her husband,
Myron Frazer.
Survivors include a daughter and
son-in-law, Marsha Frazer and Jerrold
Parks, Gillsville; son, Douglas Frazer,
Flowery Branch; grandsons and
spouse, Shane and Carol Parks, and
Jackson Frazer; granddaughter and
spouse, Shawn Parks and Jay Bowers,
all of Flowery Branch; great-grandson,
Trey Bowers and great-granddaugh
ter, Heather Parks, both of Flowery
Branch; brothers, Glennon Crow,
Gainesville, Leon Crow, Ervin Crow
and Marvin Crow, all of Flowery

and friends.

Annie Kitchens
Annie Ruth Jones Kitchens, 44, of
Danielsville, died Saturday, April 12,
2008.
She was the daughter of the
late Talmadge
Eugene and
Winnie Blanche
Smallwood Jones
and was a cos
metologist. Mrs.
Jones was preced
ed in death by her
husband, Terry L.
Kitchens.
Survivors
include a daughter,
Kerry Marie Kitchens, Danielsville;
sisters, Judy Marie McCannon,
Pendergrass, and Janice Kay Hart,
Homer; her life partner, Janet Evans;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m., from the
Cave Springs Baptist Church with the
Revs. Chad Risen and Frank Walker
officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
The family will receive friends at
the funeral home Wednesday, April
16, from 6 to 9 p.m.

'Gran-Ruby' Betsill
Ruby “Gran-Ruby” Betsill, 100, of
Fayetteville, died Saturday, April 12,
2008.
Mrs. Betsill was preceded in death
by her husband, Willie; children,
Clarence, Davis, Herman, Marjean,
Horace and James; and two grand
daughters.
Survivors include a daughter and
son-in-law, Mary Jo and Albert Fuller,
Homer; son, Paul Betsill, Fayetteville;
24 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchil
dren; and 49 great-great-grandchil
dren; several nieces and nephews;
and her faithful dog, Prissy II.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
April 15, in the chapel of Mowell
Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the
Revs. David Hart and Ken Magnus
officiating. Burial was in Banks
Cemetery.

Mary Caudell
Mary Odell Martin Caudell, 78, of
Homer, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at
a private health care facility, following
an extended illness.
She was born in Banks County on
October 28, 1929, the daughter of
the late Tom and Ethel Martin. She
was retired from Blue Bell Wrangler
as a plant manager with 40 years of
service. She was a member of Homer
Baptist Church and enjoyed garden
ing and sewing, according to loved
ones.
Mrs. Caudell was preceded in death
by a son, Larry Caudell; sister, Willie
Martin; and brothers, Tommy, Henry,
Cohen, James and Gene Martin.
Survivors include her husband,
Buford Caudell, Homer; daughter
and son-in-law, Ponda and Lou Wood,
Roswell; brothers and sisters-in-law,
John and Imogene Martin, Trenton,
and Ferd and Sara Martin, Duluth; sis
ter, Gatha Barrett, Homer; grandchil
dren, Melissa Tirico, Jim Wood, and
Misty Caudell; great-grandchildren,
Ella Marie Wood and Sophia Melissa
Tirico.

Donnie Maney
Donnie Lee Maney, 55, of Atlanta,
formerly of Cornelia, died Sunday,
April 13, 2008, at St. Joseph's
Hospital.
He was born on August 23, 1952, in
Habersham County, the son of the
late Sterling and Margaret Cochran
Maney. He was a member of the First
Metropolitan Community Church,
and was a commercial engineer with
Cendant Hotel Franchise.
Survivors include a sister and
brother-in-law, Peggy and Joe Smelcer,
Cornelia; brother and sister-in-law,
James and Darla Maney, Mt. Vernon,
Wash.; special friend, William Payne,
Atlanta; nieces, Lisa Harper, Cornelia,
Darcie Koski, Salt Lake City, Utah;
nephews, Joey Smelcer, Cornelia, and
Darin Maney, Alexander, Va.

Tom Brady
Tom Henry Brady, 76, of Cornelia,
died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the
Habersham County Medical Center.
He was born on November 28,
1931, the son of the
late Claude and Sallie wwW ■
Caudell Brady. He was
a member of the Level
Grove Baptist Church, was retired
from the United States Postal Service
as a city mail carrier with 31 years
of service, was a member of the Mt.
Airy Lodge #141 F.&A.M. and the
Scottish Rite of Charlotte, N.C. Mr.
Brady was a veteran, having served
in the United States Navy during the
Korean conflict. He was preceded in
death by a son, Tom Henry Brady
Jr.; sisters, Demie Gailey, Mae Gibby
and Ozell Gibby; and brothers, Clell
Brady, Hollis Brady and Joe Brady.
Survivors include his wife, Edna
Forrester Brady, Cornelia; daughter-
in-law, Debbie Brady, Charlotte, N.C.;
sisters, Edith Knudsen, Sunnyville,
Calif., Katie Williams, Clarkesville;
sister-in-law, Pearl Williams, Cornelia;
brother, Watt Brady, Demorest.
Funeral services were held Friday,
April 11, at the Level Grove Baptist
Church with the Revs. Terry Rice and
Chris York officiating. Burial was in
Yonah Memorial Gardens with the
Rev. Brian James officiating at the

Sulla Brock
Sulla Mae Mealor Brock, 91, of
Cornelia, died Monday, April 14, 2008,
at Northeast Georgia Medical Center,
following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on October 4,
1916, she was the daughter of the late
William and Artimissie “Missy” Poe
Mealor. She was formerly employed
with Carwood Manufacturing as a
sewing machine operator and was a
member of Mt. View Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by
her husband, Clifton Estees Brock;
sisters, Nettie Worley, Lillie Sims,
Francine House, Margie Caudell
and Mona V. Simmons; and broth
ers, Harrison, Warren, Joe and Will
Mealor. She enjoyed traveling and
gardening, loved ones stated.
Survivors include daughters
and sons-in-law, Linda and Wayne
Andrews, Baldwin, and Sue and Ray
Wade, Lula; sons and daughters-in-law,
Jerry and Anna Brock and Preston and
Marie Brock, all of Walla Walla, Wash.;
a sister, Ossie Mae Sanders, Boca
Raton, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and
15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, April 16, at Mt. View
Baptist Church with the Revs. Deron
Crocker and Kent Barrett officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery
with the Rev. Paul Morris officiating.

Owen Brady
Owen Brady, 89, of Baldwin, died
Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at his resi
dence, following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on May
24, 1918, he was the son of the late
William and Nancy Kelly Brady. He
was a self-employed farmer and was
Baptist. Mr. Brady was preceded in
death by a daughter, Lois Bridges; a
son, Wade Brady; and several brothers
and sisters. He enjoyed bee keep
ing, gardening, fishing, hunting, and
repairing automobiles, according to
loved ones.
Survivors include his wife, Etheline
Brady, Baldwin; daughters, Joyce Blair,
Danielsville, Cathy Stewart, Demorest,
Beverly Stergous, Cornelia, and Judy
Patterson, Mt. Airy; sons, Junior Brady,
Baldwin, and Bruce Brady, Homer; a
brother, Boyce Brady, Baldwin; sister,
Lillie Mae Pitts, Mt. Airy; 11 grandchil
dren; 23 great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, April 17, at 11 a.m., in the
chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart
Funeral Home with the Revs. Wade
Bridges and Wendell Handley officiat
ing. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist
Church Cemetery. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home
Wednesday, April 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family is at the residence.
