WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2008 THE BANKS COUNTY NEWS PAGE 7A Social News Scout Blast ahead Saturday The Boy Scouts of America’s Northeast Georgia Council will hold its Scout Blast on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawerenceville. The event is free and open to the public. Scouts of all ages will showcase their skills, as well as competi tions among exploring and adven turing programs, such as fire, police and EMS. Other activities include crafts, games, entertain ment, Pinewood Derby races, a scavenger hunt and concession stands. Friends of Gillsville to have golf tournament in April Friends of Gillsville, a local non-profit (501c3) community organization founded in 2004, has announced plans for the third annual Friends of Gillsville Golf Tournament to be held at Hammer’s Glen Golf Club in Homer on Saturday, April 26, at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start. Player fees are $100 per person which covers green fees, 1/2 cart, practice range, awards and box lunch. Prizes will be awarded for lowest team score (1st and 2nd place), longest drive and closest to pin, plus door prizes. Funds raised will support the college scholarship program for students at Banks County High School and East Hall High School.
