Type o negative blood donors needed
birth annoucement
Jackson Robert Brown and
Mason Russell Brown
Russ and Loren Brown announce
the birth of twin sons, Jackson
Robert Brown and Mason Russell
Brown, on Sunday March 30, at
Athens Regional Medical Center.
Jackson Robert weighed 5 pounds,
11 ounces and was 19 inches long
and Mason Russell weighed 4
pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 inch
es long.
Grandparents are Kenny and
Dannette Flint and Don and Jean
Brown, all of Commerce. Great-
grandparents are Tommy Ford,
Bob Flint and Malise Brown, all of
Commerce.
They join a brother, Boston, two-
years-old.
The American Red Cross is urging
all type O negative donors to donate
blood soon, as its supply of the
much-needed blood type currently
stands at less than a day’s supply.
Although there is a constant need
for all blood types, type O nega
tive donors play a critical role in
maintaining the blood supply. Type
O negative is the universal blood
type and can be safely given to any
patient, regardless of blood type.
It is used extensively by hospi
tals, particularly in life-threatening
emergencies or when a patient’s
matching blood type is not readily
available.
There are 14 blood donor centers
throughout the Southern Region,
and blood drives are held daily at
various times and locations.
Potential donors are asked to visit
www.givebloodredcross.org or call
1-800-GIVE-LIFE to find the near
est blood drive or donor center.
Most people in good health who are
age 17 or older and weigh at least
110 pounds can give blood.
