He was born on July 24, 1924, in Banks County, the son of the late Will F. and Callie Nunn Pritchett. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years. He was in the C.C.C. Camp and was a retired employee of Milliken with 47 years of ser vice. Mr. Pritchett was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Sue Williams Pritchett. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Wayne Murray and Wanda and Phil Parks, both of Lula; sisters, Estelle Whitfield and Rosa Lee Parker, Gainesville; grandchildren and spouses, Chad and Lisa Parks, Chanda and Jeff Banks, Casey and Amanda Murray; great-grandchil dren, Madison Parks, Jake Parks, Riley Banks and Ryan Banks. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Revs. Phil Parks and James Duncan, and Shane Wilson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Nations Ralph Joe Nations, 78, Of Alto, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Swain County, N.C., the son of the late Robert Lee and Sarah Marie Herron Nations. He was Baptist and retired from general labor. Mr. Nations was preceded in death by brothers, Coleman Nations, Grady Nations and Ben Nations; and sisters, Evelyn Higdon and Alma Nations. Survivors include his wife, Carol M. Nations, Alto; daugh ters, Darlene Frady and Daphene Gibson, both of Bryson City, N.C., JoAnn Nations, Cleveland, Bobbie Jo and Rita Jo Nations, both of Alto; sons, Robert and Roy Nations, both of Bryson City, N.C., and Roger Nations, Alto; sis ters, Manie Bowers, Mooresville, N.C. and Ann Hidgon, Bryson City, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Frances Turner Frances Belle Turner, 82, of Gillsville, died Saturday, May 10, 2008. A native of Banks County, she was born on September 2, 1925, the daughter of the late Henry and Imogene Lewallen. She was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner was pre ceded in death by her husband, John W. Turner; stepdaughter, Charlotte Harris; grandson, Blake Cochran; and brother, John Henry Lewallen. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, according to loved ones. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Alisha Turner and Bill and April Turner; stepdaughters and sons-in-laws, Linda and Donald Wilson, Gail and Calvin Johnson, and Nancy and Jewell Cochran; a sister, Joann Kimbrell; a brother, Felton Lewallen; grandchildren, Tracey Cochran Thompson, Ginger Wall, Shelley Blackwell, Russell Johnson, Casey Turner, Blaze Turner, Logan Nix and Cody Nix; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Calhoun officiating. Burial was at the Hickory Flat Methodist Church cemetery. Sherry Benefield Sherry Faye Benefield, of Carnesville, died Monday, May 5, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was married to Michael Ray Benefield, who died from inju ries in the same accident. Born in Tillsburg, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Martin and Nelda Jean Olgles McSherdon. Survivors include daughters,Tina Ann Benefield and Tammy Faye Benefield, both of Carnesville; three grandchildren; grandmother, Pearl Word, Covington; brothers, Harvey Pitts, Covington, Tracy McSherdon, Stockbridge; aunt, Janice Adams, Porterdale. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 7, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, after which the body will be cremated. Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements. He was born on August 27, 1939, in Habersham County, the son of the late Vandiver and Sula Adderholdt Garrison. He was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Habersham Broom Company with several years of service. Survivors include sisters, Eva Mae Thomas, Alto, Louise Robinett, Versailles, Mo.; brother, Emory Garrison, Cornelia. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 14, at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Garry Garrison and Chad Shook officiating. Burial was in Level Grove Cemetery. Susan Barron Susan Frances Segers Barron, 85, of Cornelia, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at a private health care facil ity following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on February 17, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Robert Andrew and Ethel Dillashaw Segers. She was a retired school teacher, hav ing taught at South Habersham High School and Middle School for 33 years. During her teacher tenure, she was awarded the STAR Teacher Award and was a BETA Club Advisor. She was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church, enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid traveler. Mrs. Barron was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Harold Barron; daughter, Mary Lynn McGowan; and a sis ter, Hazel Segers. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy Barron, Cornelia; grand children and spouses, Jeffery and Dawn Barron and Anna and Daniel Ferguson, all of Cornelia; great-grandchildren, Annalise Barron and James Barron. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 7, at Level Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Curt Fredrick and Brian James officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mary McFarland Mary Dean West McFarland, 82, of Gainesville, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, fol lowing an extended illness. The daughter of the late Benjamin and Lela Bell Watson West, she was a lifelong resident of Gainesville and was born on June 6, 1925. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for more than 70 years, was employed by the City of Gainesville for 33 years, and was the first woman in the Hall County area to deliver a successful set of triplets. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Larry and Paulette McFarland, Gillsville, J.C. and Sandy McFarland, Gainesville; daughters and sons- in-law, Nita and Larry Fuller, Gainesville, Norma and Jim Gibbons, Manassas, Va.; grandchil dren, Scott McFarland, Braselton, Julie McIntyre and Nick Fuller, both of Gainesville, Jullian Byrd, Jacksonville, Fla., Bryan Gibbons, Fairfax, Va.; great-granddaughters, Haley McIntyre, Gainesville, and Kaleigh McFarland, Braselton; one step-granddaughter, Dana Peek, Cedartown; one step-grandson, Corey Byrd, Athens; step-great grandchildren, Ella Kate, Harris and Julianne, Cedartown; niec es, Linda Holcomb and Martha Simmons, both of Cleveland, and Ann McAllister, Gainesville; and a host of other family and friends. He was born on June 1, 1942, in Banks County, the son of the late Adger and Georgie Lackey Adamson. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver. Survivors include a daughter, Davina McCoy, Cleveland; sons, Brian Adamson, LaFayette, Daniel Adamson, Cleveland; grandchil dren, Arthur Cantrell, Jonathan Cantrell, Nicholas McGhee. Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Gerald Adamson and Paul Morris officiating. Burial was in the Enon Baptist Church cemetery.
