Brent, who

help. Mitch Whitfield, another
neighbor, joined in the assist,
along with Sam Wilson. Banks
County’s finest were also there
to help with getting the horses
out of the roadway and alerting
motorists. It certainly makes one
feel good to live in a small town
like Homer, just makes you real
proud.
The story didn’t stop there. The

I was almost at work this
past Monday morning,
which is around an hour
from my home in Homer, when
my cell phone rang.
“The horses are out, out on
the road!” my wife said, in a
naturally, excited voice.” “ Come
home!”
Well, being that far away I
knew help was needed, and
needed quickly. I quickly placed
a phone call to a neighbor, but
he was in Athens. I then called
Sam Wilson at Homer Hardware
to see if he could help, and
asked his dad to call the Banks
County Sheriff’s Office to let
them come and watch for traffic.
One of the horses that my
daughter has had for 19 years
is blind, and I knew that could
pose a real problem. Well, to
my wife’s great relief, the cal
vary soon arrived. My wife had
fellows found the break in the
fence, went home to get repair
materials, and came back and
repaired the broken down fence.
It was such a relief to call my
daughter in Winder, who is soon
to deliver another grandson for
us, and tell her that she could
relax because her horses were
ok.
A great ending, all because
there are nice folks in Homer,
Georgia that care about one
another. Again thanks one and
all from Skipper and Judy Smith.
Well, no fishing story today,
but a great one anyway. Let me
know about your big fish.
