SUBMITTAL OF COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
COMMUNITY AGENDA FOR
HABERSHAM COUNTY, THE TOWN OF
ALTO, THE CITIES OF CLARKESVILLE,
CORNELIA, AND DEMOREST, AND THE
TOWN OF MT. AIRY
Habersham County and the Town of Alto, the cities of
Clarkesville, Cornelia and Demorest and the Town of Mt.
Airy are in the process of preparing a joint
Comprehensive Plan as required by the Georgia
Department of Community Affairs. Public hearings will
be held at each governmental agency for the purpose of
transmittal of the Community Agenda portion of the
Comprehensive Plan to the Georgia Mountains Regional
Development Commission and the Georgia Department of
Community Affairs.
The Community Agenda portion of the Comprehensive
Plan contains the vision for the future, along with a
strategy for achieving the vision. It also serves as a guide
for future decisions concerning growth and development
within the community.
The Community Agenda will be available for review and
comment at the Habersham County Commissioners Office,
and the City and Town Halls of each participating
jurisdiction by May 19, 2008. A copy of the draft agenda
can be viewed on line at http://www.habershamga.com.
The scheduled public hearing for our local government is
as follows:
Town of Alto - June 10, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
at the Alto City Hall.
Persons with special needs relating to handicapped
accessibility or foreign language should contact our Town
Clerk at (706) 778-8035 prior to 5:00 p.m. on June 6, 2008.
Penny Rogers, Town Clerk can be located at the Alto City
Hall at 162 South Grant Street between the hours of 9
A.M. and 5 P.M., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday,
except holidays and we are closed on Wednesdays.
