Olive, Hartwell, theft by shop lifting, possession of a controlled substance and simple battery. •Tony Catson, 50, 630 Smith Street, Atlanta, excessive speeding and driving without a license. •Anthony Andrew Conner, 32, 171 Bone Road, Commerce, disorderly conduct. •Siriaco Florencio, 21, 6418 The Plaza, Apt. F, Charlotte, N.C., driv ing without a license and excessive Seven people were arrested by the Baldwin Police Department during the past week.The arrests include: •Nathan Perry Webb, 28, Hollywood Hill Road, Clarkesville, aggravated stalking. •Atari D. Brown, 29, Walker Lane, Clarkesville, trespass investigation. •Juan Jose Morales, 18, Nix Road, Alto, driving without a license. speeding. •Royale Remar Goodwin, 21, 121 Jennings Lane, Nicholson, failure to appear. •William Shane Hester, 45, 212 Stone Bridge Cove Way, Lavonia, probation violation. •Corey Dwight Howington, 20, 594 Payne Road, Homer, probation violation. •Robbin Hunt, 52, 4791 Historic Homer Highway, Alto, pedestrian under the influence. •Clarke Spencer Lebouitz, 23, 133 Clocester Ferry road, Greenville, S.C., possession of a controlled sub stance. •Cristin Marie Livingston, 25, 43 Homer Street, Maysville, forgery in first degree. •Michal L. Lanham, 44, Wells Street, Baldwin, theft by taking. •Ramon Nieves, 36, Hwy. 115 West, Cleveland, traffic violations. •Misael Martinez Valtierra, 21, King Street, Baldwin, no driver’s license. •Maria Sonia Rodriguez, 30, Crestwood Lane, Baldwin, traffic violations. •Christopher Darrin Lowe, 36, 232 Cooke Street, Alto, aggravated assault. •Terry Wayne McGraw, 25, 128 Mahoney Road, Dunlap, Tenn., pro bation violation. •Chuck Medley, 53, 423 Chamber Road, Commerce, no tag, no proof of insurance, concealing identity of vehicle and theft by taking. •James Cleveland Mitchell, 30, 157 Destiny Way, Elijah, failure to appear. •Hilda Renee Popelka, 46, 1616 Onslow Drive, Charlotte, N.C., open container violation and driving with a suspended license. •Ashley Thomas Taliaferro, 24, 604 Rocksprings, Lula, terroristic threats or acts. OTHER INCIDENTS The police department also inves tigated the following incidents: •a report of theft by taking on Pine Forest Circle. •a report of battery against a resident at Oak Heritage Nursing Home. •a report of a dog being shot on Lenora Lane. A Gainesville man was caught red handed while attempting to steal copper wire from a Maysville con struction company last week. James Adam Emmett, 28, 1397 Patterson Drive, Gainesville, faces several charges including criminal trespassing, possession of tools for commission of a crime and theft by taking following the incident May 27. Emmett was caught by employ ees of Griffin Brothers Construction An Evans Street, Homer, woman contacted the Banks County Sheriff’s Office Sunday stating she had found some suspicious items which she thought might be illegal drugs. A responding deputy discovered the found items turned out to be breath mints and not illegal drugs. In other incidents during the past week the BCSO responded to: •loitering at Nova Cinemas. •alarm at an East Ridgeway Road business. •lost or stolen phone at Nova Cinemas. •entering an auto at TA Truckstop. •damage to vehicle at a Dock Lawrence Way residence. •suspicious activity at chicken houses on Brewer Road. •911 hang-up on Tanger Drive which appeared to be false as the call was traced to a fax machine. •911 hang-up from a Rattle Trap Road residence which turned out to be a medical call. •unresponsive person at a Dan Waters Road, Commerce, resi dence. •power lines in roadway on Hwy. 198, Baldwin. •tree in roadway on Hwy. 63, one mile south of Hwy. 51 North. •911 open line at a Marion Cape Company and detained until Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputies could arrive. Emmett claimed he was on the property because he was lost but authorities were not buying that explanation. The investigation discovered Emmett had previously stolen tools from a Hall County fire department location as they were recovered at his residence. In addition, receipts showed he had already sold copper wire to a business in Jefferson. Drive, Homer, residence, which turned out to be a false call. •entering an auto at Atlanta Dragway. •alarm at a Scales Creek Road residence which turned out to be a false call. •burglary at an Eagles Nest, Homer, address. •burglary alarm at a Sims Bridge Road, Commerce, residence. •suspicious vehicle parked on side of roadway of Duncan Road several times with “three or four Hispanic males” inside. •silent hold-up alarm at Sonny’s on Hwy. 441 South which proved to be false. •alarm at a Sample Scales Road, Homer, residence, which appeared to be false. •suspicious vehicle on Sims Bridge Road. •suspicious vehicle on Rattletrap “He had already stolen several hundred dollars worth of copper wire,” Banks County sheriff Charles Chapman said. “We believe he was there to steal more wire.” A female suspect was apprehend ed along with Emmett but was not charged since she cooperated with authorities, the sheriff said. Emmett posted bond but since his arrest violated his parole in Hall County, he remained in the Banks County jail as of earlier this week.
