Sentences given in Superior
Court results from recent Superior
Court proceedings in Banks County
include the following:
•Cintavious Markey Smith, aggra
vated assault and cruelty to chil
dren, eight years in jail, 12 years
probation, $2,000 fine and no unsu
pervised contact with anyone under
age 16.
•Halisha Beasley, aggravated
assault and cruelty to children, 200
hours of community service, $3,000
fine, attend parenting class and pro
bation.
•Deonna Lynn Orban, DUI, fail
ure to maintain lane and no license,
10 days in jail, 12 months probation
and $1,000 fine.
•Larkin Joseph Murphy, DUI, 12
months probation, four days in jail
and $600 fine.
•Joseph K. Herrin, violation of
family violence order, 12 months
probation and $500 fine.
•Amy Russell, affray, 12 months
probation, no violent contact with
the victim and $250 fine.
•Kenneth Moore, giving a false
name to a law enforcement officer,
90 days in jail.
•Kathryn Riggs, possession of
marijuana, 12 months probation and
$500 fine.
•Vernon Lee Dubose, driving on a
suspended license and possession of
marijuana, 90 days in jail.
•Louie Sanders Hickman, battery,
six months probation, no violent
contact with the victim and $300
fine.
•Kevin Christopher Turnbow,
obstructing a law enforcement offi
cer and possession of marijuana, 12
months probation, $1,500 fine and
continue treatment.
•Jamie Lynn Hansley, giving a
false name or address to a law
enforcement officer, 12 months pro
bation and $300 fine.
•Royale Remar Goodwin, theft
by taking, 12 months probation and

•Jannie Wilkerson, selling alco
holic beverage to an underage per

Woman concerned about
suspicious activity in pond
A Beaver Creek Drive resi
dent contacted the Banks County
Sheriff’s Office Sunday concern
ing suspicious activity in a pond on
her property.
The woman said several fish in
the pond had died and that her
daughter had become sick after
swimming in the pond.
The woman said the trouble
began after she told a neighbor not
to fish in the pond.
In other incidents during the past
week, the BCSO responded to:
•theft at TA Truck Stop.
•counterfeit money used at
Goody’s.
•dispute at a Historic Homer
Highway business.
•alarm at a Barrett Road resi
dence which proved to be false.
•alarm at a Gallow Road, Homer,
residence, which proved to be
false.
•report of an employee at
Dandelion Inn on Hwy. 441 South
arriving to work intoxicated and
“on something.”
•911 open line at a Brook Trail,
Commerce, residence which turned
out to be a medical call.
•unsecure livestock on Herrin
Drive, Lula.
•alarm at Pizza Hut on Hwy. 441
which proved to be false.
•tree in roadway on Hwy. 51
South at mile marker 17.
•emu running loose on I-85 near
exit 154.
•alarm at a Tanger Drive business
which appeared to be false.
•suspicious vehicle on Yonah-
Homer Road.
•dogs attacking livestock on
Foster Road, Baldwin.
•alarm at a McCoy Bridge Road
residence which appeared to be
false.
•alarm at Banks County Primary
School which appeared to be
false.
•shoplifting at Wal-Mart.
•theft at a Bone Road, Commerce,
residence.
•theft at a Hebron Road residence
of a culvert pipe.
•911 hang-up at an East Ridgeway
Road, Commerce address which
appeared to be negative.
•livestock in roadway on Brown
Bridge Road which could not be
located.
•tree in roadway on Hebron
Road.
•road hazard on I-85 North near
exit 154.
•tree in roadway on Sims Bridge
Road.
•lost wallet at Home Depot.
•theft of cast iron tub and two
sinks from property on Damascus
