MISS HUGHES, MR. MASSEY
Hughes, Massey to wed Aug. 16
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Hughes of
Westminster, S.C., announce the
engagement and forthcoming mar
riage of their daughter, Lyndsey Ann
Hughes, to Jared Preston Massey
of Hartwell. Mr. Massey is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Campbell of
Commerce and Preston Massey of
Hartwell.
The wedding will be held Saturday,
Aug. 16, at St. Francis Catholic
Church, Walhalla, S.C. Formal invi
tations will be sent.
The bride is the granddaughter
of Virginia Hughes, the late Bill
Hughes, and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil
Hamilton, all of Seneca, S.C.
She is a 2000 graduate of Seneca
High School and a 2004 gradu
ate of Clemson University. She is
employed by the Oconee County,
S.C, school district.
The groom is the grandson of
the late Gerri Crump, formerly of
Carnesville; the late Joel Ayers, and
the late Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Massey, all
formerly of Hartwell.
Mr. Massey is a 2002 graduate
of Hart County High School and
a 2003 graduate of the Georgia
Corrections Academy, a 2004 gradu
ate of the Northeast Georgia Police
Academy and a 2007 graduate of
the South Carolina Criminal Justice
Academy. He is employed with the
Salem, S.C., Police Department.
Collins, Everett to marry In July
Gail Rucker and Barnett Collins
of Commerce announce the engage
ment and forthcoming marriage
of their daughter, Keyonia Chastia
Collins, to Ryan Vincent Everett,
Statesboro, son of Melrose Gaskin
of Statesboro and Mark Brown of
Las Vegas, NV.
They will be wed in July.
Invitations have been sent.
Miss Collins is the granddaughter
of Nettie Collins, Commerce, and
the late Lent on Collins; and the late
Paul and Ruth Rucker, formerly of
Commerce.
She is a 1999 graduate of Banks
County High School and a 2006
graduate of Georgia Southwestern
University. She is employed at
Cherokee Elementary School in
Americus.
Mr. Everett is the grandson of
Marion Everett, Statesboro, and the
late Willie Everett; and Geraldine
Brown, Dayton, Ohio.
He is a 2000 graduate of Statesboro
High School and is pursuing a
degree in hospitality management.

Asperger's group to hold
Thurs. meetings in Winder
The Georgia Asperger’s
Organization will meet the first and
third Thursday each month, from
7-8:30 p.m. at Barrow Regional
Medical Center, Winder.
The group is a new, parent-led
organization that serves people
and families with Asperger’s and
High Functioning Autism (HFA),
which are neurological conditions.
The organization serves Barrow,
Jackson and surrounding coun
ties.
The organization provides advo
cacy support, parent mentoring
skills and resources. Its mission
is to strengthen families and bring
them together through developing
healthy and productive relation
ships with schools, local business
es and faith-based organizations.
The group holds monthly sup
port groups, training workshops,
and informational seminars to bet
ter equip, empower, educate and
encourage youth.

Gainesville College. She is
employed with Sears Logistics,
Pendergrass.
Mr. Burns is the grandson
of the late John D. “Pete” and
Naomi Merritt Burns, former
ly of Carnesville; and the late
Luther “L.T.” and Louise Williams
Simpson, formerly of Carnesville.
He is a graduate of Franklin
County High School and is
