Townsend III has graduated from the Air Force Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Academy at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Fla. The graduate received instruction in advanced military leadership management theories and respon sibilities, oral and written commu nication skills, and physical fitness fundamentals. The noncommis sioned officer performed as super visor to learn behavior concepts, problem solving and counseling techniques relative to the Air Force mission and organization. The ser geant learned to orientate new ser vice members in the principles, practices and the tools necessary to function in the Air Force. Townsend, an F-15 weap ons expediter, is assigned to the 33 rd Fighter Wing, 60 th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, Eglin Air Force Base, Valparaiso, Fla. The technical sergeant has served in the military for 12 years. He is the son of Frank P. Townsend II, Gillsville, and Janis D. Fowler, Dahlonega. In 1995, Townsend graduat ed from Lumpkin County High School, Dahlonega. Buck William McDaniel, Comer, announces the engage ment and forthcoming marriage of his daughter, Kelly McDaniel, to Wes King, Alto. The bride-elect is the grand daughter of Royce and Tiney McDaniel, Winder, and J.C. Gibson, Gainesville. She has fam ily in Jackson County. Miss McDaniel is a 2008 grad uate of Winder-Barrow High School. The future groom is the grand son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Smith, Mt. Airy, and Mr. and Mrs. Max King, Alto. Mr. King is a 2004 gradu ate of Habersham County High School. Mr. King is employed by Chris Husley Wrecker Service in Baldwin. The wedding will take place at 2 p.m., Aug 2, 2008, at Miss McDaniel’s house in Winder. A reception will follow. FIVE GENERATIONS Five generations of the Harold Brown family gath ered. Brown sets three powerlifting records Congratulations to Tyler Brown, the son of Tracy and Kathy Brown, on his recent accomplishments. Brown, a Hall County Powerlifter, was very successful at the 18th anniversary Georgia Games at Marietta High. Brown, a 17-year-old East Hall rising senior football player who already has state, national and world records in the American Powerlifting Committee (APC) meets, set three United State Powerlifting Federation (USPF) State records for his age and weight class. Lifting in the 308 pound class, Brown totaled more weight (680 kg./1499.128 lbs.) than any other lift er. Brown set USPF State records for the squat (237.5 Kg./523.5925 lbs.); bench press (205 kg. /451.9431bs.), and dead lift (237.5 kg./523.5925 lbs.) Brown adds the Georgia Games Championships in bench press and full power to his state and national APC titles from April and June. Silver Shoals Baptist Church will hold its monthly singing on Aug 3 at 6 p.m. Special guest singers will be the Carnes Family. Everyone is invited. Silver Shoals Baptist Church will hold revival beginning August 10 at 6 p.m. and August 11-15 beginning at 7 p.m. Special guest singers will be featured each night. The guest speak er will be the Rev. Garry Garrison. Louise Sheridan was honored with a birthday dinner at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church given by her family and friends. Everyone had a great time. The community and county was saddened last week to hear of the death of Vivian Garrison, wife of Bo Garrison. She was one of the sweetest women I have known. She always had kind words to and about everyone she would meet. She was one of the happiest mothers and loved having her children and watching them grow. She has been sick for the last eight years. She will be greatly missed by Bo, the children and son in laws, grandchildren, host of family and friends. Vivian, we will always remember you. Please remember her family and friends in prayer.
