'Woody' Wood
Daniel A. “Woody” Wood, 56, of
Commerce, died Monday, August
11, 2008, from injuries sustained in
a motorcycle accident.
Born in Salzburg, Austria, he was
the son of the late Darce Cecil and
Peggy Glendean Walker Wood.
Survivors include his wife of
36 years, Janet Ward Wood; son
and daughter-in-law, Ricky and
Michelle Wood, Commerce; brother,
David Wood, Hephzibah; sisters,
Joyce Wood, Idaho, Kathy Wood,
Columbia, S.C., Belinda Sheppard,
South Carolina; grandchildren,
Skyler and Taylor Wood; step
mother, Carolyn Wood, Wrens; step
brother, Dwayne Wood, Wrens; step
sister, Sissy Wood, California.
Funeral services were Thursday,
August 14, in the chapel of Ivie
Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeffrey
Murray officiating. Burial was in
Banks County Memorial Gardens.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce,
was in charge of arrangements.

Staci Chestnut
Staci Suzanne Chestnut, 41, of
Commerce, died Saturday, August
9, 2008.
She was the daughter of Dr. Joe
Slocum and Olivia Garrison Slocum
of Dublin.
Survivors include a daughter,
Rebecca Chestnut, Commerce; sis
ters, Michelle Mines, Sharpsburg,
Lynn Rangel, Madison, and Suzette
Slocum Brown, Newman; and eight
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, August 6 at Maysville
Baptist Church with Dr. J.K. Segars
and the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating.
Burial was in Nails Creek Baptist
Church cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce,
was in charge of arrangements.

Ondia Dodd
Ondia Dee Loggins Dodd, 75, of
Gainesville, died Monday, August
11, 2008, at her residence, follow
ing an extended illness.
She was born in Lumpkin County,
the daughter of the late Fred J. and
Bertha Cook Loggins.
She was the mother of Patsy
Howard, Gillsville; mother-in-law
of Jr. Bruce, Maysville.
Funeral services were held
Thursday, August 14, in the cha
pel of Memorial Park Funeral
Home with burial at the Mt. Zion
Methodist Church cemetery in
Alto. The Revs. Grady White,
Kenneth Ledford and Fred Patton
officiated.
Memorial Park Funeral Home,
Gainesville, was in charge of
arrangements.

Norman Miller
Norman Lewis Miller Sr., 86, of
Cornelia, died Monday, August 11,
2008, at a local medical center.
He was born in Augusta on May
12, 1922, the son of the late Ohlen
Louis and Elle Holley Miller.
He was the father of Ohlen O.
“Bo” Miller of Baldwin.
Memorial services will be held
Saturday, August 16, at 2 p.m., at
Harmony Baptist Church with Pastor
Mark Vandiver officiating. The fam
ily will receive friends at 1 p.m.,
until the service at the church..
Whitfield Funeral Home, South
Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of
arrangements.

Margaret Shockey
Margaret Jamison Shockey, 87, of
Gainesville, died Sunday, August
10, 2008, at the Bell Minor Home.
She was born in Bent Mountain,
Va. and was the grandmother of
John William Shockey of Homer.
Graveside services were held
Wednesday, August 13.

Ernest McDaniel
Ernest Eugene McDaniel, 56, of
Senoia, formerly of Jackson County,
died Monday, July 14, 2008, follow
ing an extended illness.
Survivors include a son, Tony
McDaniel; companion, Marjorie
Buchanon, Senoia; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Leon and Mildred
McDaniel, Buford, Terry and
Christine McDaniel, Braselton,
Lamar McDaniel, Flowery Branch,
and Steve McDaniel, Maysville;
grandchildren, Lacy Dawn, Hunter
and Emily Hardy; five nieces; two
nephews; 8 great-nephews; and six
great-nieces.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, July 16, in the chapel of
Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford.
Burial was at Broadlawn Memorial
Gardens in Buford.
Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford,
was in charge of arrangements.
