Horse assn, members travel to state show On Thursday, Aug. 28, members of the Banks County Horse Association traveled to Perry to par ticipate in the annual Georgia Federation of Saddle Clubs State Horse Show. Members com peted against eight other associations in halter classes, western pleasure and horseman ship, and running classes to try and take home a tro phy. The heat was on for these partici pants and that hard work paid off. Sev eral members won die Queen Contest. trophies, while others were just happy that their horses didn’t get loose. Nerves were very tense but everyone had a great time. CANTRELL Bethany Cantrell rep resented the club in DAVIS WINS TROPHY Dave Davis won a trophy in the run ning division. Barbeque, homemade goodies, hot dogs, and more will delight any appetite. Antique Auto Exhibition on Saturday. Stroll on down to the Grist mill and watch the water wheel turn corn into fresh ground cornmeal for sale. While there, enjoy fresh cornbread and beans. Play the new Spirit of the River minia ture golf. Children’s activities include pup pets, a petting zoo, Splash, moonwalk, giant slide, obstacle course and more will again delight the kids. Enjoy your walk across the Covered Bridge to the Heritage Village. Step back in time, tour the Chapel and old log cab ins, which date from the 1800’s. Adults can view craft demonstrations, a black smith at his forge, video and a wonderful Arrowhead Collection in the cabins. The 5K Mill Race will run Sunday at 3 pm. For the less inclined, a one-mile Fun Run or Walk takes place at 2:30 pm. Fees are $15 to preregister and $18 on race day. For more information contact Keith Ariail 706 335 5519. Sunday at 5 pm will be the Big Finale... the Duck Dash\ Don’t miss the most unique event in North Georgia as hun dreds of plastic ducks race down the shoals to the finish line.
