Countians go to gospel singing
Ruth Parson, Mary Parson
and Louise Sheridan are among
those who traveled to Louisville,
Ky„ to a gospel singing conven
tion last week. They returned
home on Thursday. They were
with a group from Banks Coun
ty. They had a great time.
The community was saddened
to hear of the death of Anita Pow
ers Dale. Anita lived her young
adult life with her aunt and uncle,
Nancy and Ralph Poole. Anita
has many ties to our community.
She had move away but the last
four years had moved back. She
will be greatly miss with lots of
fond memories of growing up to
gether, our weddings and being
great friends. She leaves her son,
Dallas, and her extended family
here in the community. Remem
ber her family and host of friends
when you pray.
On another sad note, we are
so sorry to hear of the death of
Tyler Bush, son of Rita Hart
Bush, a teacher and counselor at
Banks County Middle School,
and the late Kenny Bush. Tyler
was a senior at Banks County
High School and an all around
great kid. When he was a baby,
he stayed with Belva Marlow
until he became school age, but
she was always “nana Belva” to
Tyler. He will be greatly missed
by his family, friends, school
mates and anyone else who his
life had touched. Remember his
family and host of friends in your
prayers.

'Ride to Survive' to benefit
The Piedmont Rape Crisis
Center, which serves Jackson,
Banks and Barrow counties,
will hold its third annual ‘‘Ride
to Survive” fund-raiser Sept. 20.
The ride begins in Auburn, and
is expected to draw more than
200 motorcycle riders from
across Northeast Georgia.
The ride will begin at the
Ingles shopping center on Hwy.
29, Auburn, and will continue
for some 90 miles with police

Helen. The ride ends with a re
ception at Chattahoochee Biker
Gear in Helen.

A class reunion for the Banks
County High School class of
1998 will be held Saturday, Nov.

For the 15 th year, Tanger
Outlet Center is holding a fund
raiser for the cancer research.
Shoppers can purchase a 25
percent off ‘‘pink card” Sept.
17-Oct. 19. For a $1 donation,
they will be able to use this card
at participating stores. The cards

A rabies clinic will be held in
Maysville from 10 a.m. to noon
at the city park in Maysville on
Saturday, Oct. 18.
Discounted rabies vaccines

City of Maysville
NOTICE OF
PUBLIC HEARING
Please take notice that the City Council of the
City of Maysville, Georgia will hold a public
hearing on October 6, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at
the Maysville Public Library to receive public
comments on the application of Russ
Meadows and Sophia D. Meadows to annex
property located at Highway 98, Maysville,
Georgia, known as Lot 5 in the Maysville
Business Center, containing 3.124 acres. In
connection with the annexation of the
property the council will hold a public hearing
at that same time and date for a proposed
amendment to the Zoning Map of the Zoning
Ordinance of the City of Maysville to set the
zoning of the property to Industrial (I). Under
current Jackson County zoning rules, the
property is zoned General Industrial. A copy
of the applications are available for public
inspection at the Maysville City Hall.
A regular meeting of the City Council will be
held immediately following the public hearing
at which the adoption of the annexation
ordinance and the zoning category will be
considered.
