Hospice seeks volunteers
Hospice of Northeast Geor
gia Medical Center (NGMC) is
seeking individuals and groups
to volunteer their time to help
serve patients coping with termi
nal illnesses.
Volunteer opportunities will
accommodate anyone's schedule
and interest, whether they want
to provide support and compan
ionship for patients and families
on a regular basis, provide cleri
cal support in the office or help
with an event or project once a
year. Many flexible options are
available that will allow anyone
the opportunity to volunteer with
Hospice of NGMC.
A three-part orientation and
training class is scheduled for
Monday, Oct. 6; Wednesday,
Oct. 8: and Friday, Oct. 10, from
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Hospice of
NGMC office, 2150 Limestone
Parkway, Gainesville.
Training is free but pre-regis
tration is required.

Jaemor to hold fall festival
Jaemor Farm Market, Alto, with com maze admission or $3
will hold its fall festival on Sat
urday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28.
The festival will be open on
Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
and Sunday, from 1-6 p.m.
The festival will feature a
“pick-your-own pumpkin patch”
with pumpkins ranging from $2-
30. Scenic hay rides to the pump
kin patch and apple orchard are
$3 per person. Children three
and under are free.
Pumpkin painting is $4 per
small pumpkin. The “Wild West
Adventure” com maze is $8 for
adults, $7 for kids, and free for
children three and under. A mini
maze for younger children is free
for the mini-maze only.
Pedal carts are $2 per each
five-minute ride.
The com maze and pedal carts
will be open through Saturday,
Nov. 1. Hours are Fridays and
Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 11
p.m.; and Sundays, from 1-6
p.m.

Flu clinic available Oct. 10
A flu shot clinic will be held
at Banks County Middle School
on Friday, Oct. 10.
A time for the clinic has not
been announced. The North
Health District says it is un
known when flu shots will be
available after Oct. 10 in Banks
County.
As always, public health
workers expect the clinics to
be busy, so allow plenty of time
to receive service. Visitors are
asked to be considerate and pa
tient with others.
The cost for the vaccine is
$25. Medicare and Medicaid
are accepted at all health depart
ments.
It is recommended that people
in the following groups get the
flu shot:
•all persons, including school-
aged children, who want to re
duce the risk of becoming ill
with influenza or of transmitting
influenza to others
•all children aged 6-59 months
(i.e., 6 months to 4 years);
all persons older than 50;
•children and adolescents
(aged 6 months to 18 years) who
