Junior Varsity Leopards end season over Athens Academy
The Leopards’ junior varsity football team finished
their season in grand style beating the Athens Academy
JV team 28-8.
The JV Leopards end the season with a 5-2 record.
An added bonus, last Thursday, was defeating Athens
Academy who beat Banks last year.
Leading the offensive charge for the Leopards was
Dylan Lackey, rushing in 116 yards on 14 with two
touchdowns. Athens Academy was pounded into sub
mission by the 341 yards of offense. Besides Lackey,
running leaders included Jordan Smith, Alex Banks, Ja
cob Blalock and Jeremy Greenway who also scored a
touchdown on a 35-yard run.
The JV Leopards were up 21-0 going into the half, al
lowing a number of sideline players to get into the game
during the second half.
Banks threw Kenny Langston, Dean Ewing, Jameson
Flynn and Drew Elrod onto the field to break apart the
Athens defense. Three passes from Alex Banks connect
ed to Jordan Smith, Logan Prater and Brannon Scales.
Nathan Krumnow led the offensive line, which domi
nated the line of scrimmage. Linemen Brian Mathis,
Travis Betts, Joe Denton, Zach Sprayberry and Parker
Watson pushed Athens Academy all over the field.
The JV Leopards only had to punt twice during the
game and kicker Jacob Blalock averaged 30 yards per
kick.
The Leopards defense had the Athens offense wrapped
up for three quarters. Eli Autry and Joseph Stinchcomb
were the leaders of the defensive effort. Autry was ev
erywhere on the field while Stinchcomb recovered a
fumble to stop Athens inside the Banks County terri
tory. Breaking up the Athens’ passing game, Justin Fin-
cannon and Kyle Smith both tipped passes.
The 28-8 victory let the JV Leopards end the season
on a high note.
