Alto City Council to pay off GEFA loan, discuss budget amendment

The Alto city council
approved paying off the
remainder of the Georgia
Environmental Facilities
Authority loan.
During Tuesday’s regular
council meeting, the coun
cil discussed the loan and
the remaining amount of
approximately $47,000.
The city acquired the
GEFA loan to help pay for
the replacing and updat
ing of the water lines in
1999 and the original loan
was for approximately
$510,000. Previous pay
ments were made quarter
ly on the interest on the
loan.
According to Mayor
Audrey Turner the funds
are available to pay off the
loan with sufficient funds
left to cover the water
department operations.
GEFA is a state agen
cy that provides financial
assistance to help improve
the states environment.
OTHER BUSINESS
Also during Tuesday’s
meeting the council:
•approved giving an end-
of-year bonus like past
years.
