Social
Heating assistance program
taking applications now
Mended Hearts to meet Mon
The Georgia Department of
Human Resources is helping
some households pay for heat
ing costs.
Households in which every
member is 65 and older or in
which every member is com
pletely unable to leave the
home due to health reasons,
may apply for assistance with
their home heating bills, start
ing Nov. 3.
One-time payments will be
made by checks issued to the
home energy suppliers on be
half of eligible households.
Eligibility for the program is
based on the income of ev
eryone living in the home. All
eligible households must be re
sponsible for their home heat
ing bill.
When applying for assis
tance, persons will be required
to present verification of age
for everyone in the home, veri
fication of all household in
come received within the past
30 days (check stubs, public
assistance checks, unemploy
ment checks, etc.), verification
of Social Security numbers for
everyone in the home, and the
most recent home heating bill.
Depending on the availabil
ity of funds, the regular pro
gram will open to the general
public on Dec. 1.
All interested applicants are
asked to contact Christy Hill
at Ninth District Opportunity,
Inc., after 8:30 a.m. by calling
706-677-3921 on the date of
the program they qualify for.

Fields promoted to branch manager

Thanksgiving dinner planned in Maysville
Patricia Fields has been
promoted to branch manager
of AgGeorgia Farm Credit’s
Royston branch office. She
will be responsible for over
seeing the day to day activi
ties of the office as well as
managing the credit, opera
tions and personnel of the
branch.
Fields holds a degree in
business education from The
University of Georgia and
also graduated from the Uni
versity’s Terry College of
Business Georgia Banking
School. She has been em
ployed with AgGeorgia Farm
Credit for 13 years and has
served in various credit posi
tions where she gained expe
rience in all branch functions.
Her most recent position has
been as a loan officer and as
sistant branch manager in the
Royston office.
The Royston office serves
Banks, Clarke, Elbert, Frank
lin, Hart, Madison and Ste
phens counties.

of a son, Tyson Eli Maney,
on July 15, 2008, at North
east Georgia Medical Center,
Gainesville.
The grandparents are Del-
mar and Janis Underwood,
Cornelia, and Larry and Jane
Maney, Baldwin.
Kyle Westbrook has joined
AgGeorgia Farm Credit as a loan
officer in the Royston branch
office where he will be serving
the financing needs of residents
of rural Banks. Clarke, Elbert,
Franklin, Hart, Madison and Ste
phens counties.
Originally from Lavonia,
Westbrook attended Emmanuel
College where he earned a bach
elor’s degree in business admin
istration.
He says, “I’m looking forward
to working with AgGeorgia, as
well as being an involved mem
ber of the communities I serve.”

on Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 8
a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Center on
Thompson St., Homer.
There will be hand-made
Christmas items for sale. Also,
some yard sale items will be of
fered.
It will be sponsored by the
Banks County Senior Center and
participants.
Generous Hearts will be giv
ing out turkeys with trimmings
on Friday, Nov. 21, at the Banks
County Recreation Department
from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The Banks County School
system will have a community
health fair on site with medi
cal agencies, blood pressure
screenings and Medicaid infor
mation.

requirements are:
One person, $1,127; two
people, $1,517; three people,
$1,907; four people, $2,297;
and five people, $2,687.
