The Lodge at Flatrock Mill opens in Maysville
Jan Jones, innkeeper of The
Lxidge at Flatrock Mill, an
nounced that the 780 sq. foot B
& B Guest House is open. The
Lxidge is located on the Fla
trock Mill Wildlife Sanctuary on
Deadwyler Road in Maysville.
“The second floor guest house
is reminiscent of a tree house,”
says Jones. “Styled after old
fish camps, pine-paneling, one
inch thick pine flooring, and a
corrugated tin ceiling create a
cabin atmosphere that wraps
you in warmth. Large windows
provide beautiful views of the
creek on one end of The Lodge,
and the woods on the other. The
romantic getaway is filled with
treasures from the past and all
the comforts of today. The open
floor plan has sitting and dining
areas, a full kitchen, king size bed
and two twin beds, and a shower
for two. A private deck is perfect
for sipping morning coffee or a
glass of wine at sunset serenaded
by a chorus of tree frogs.”
Guests of The Lodge are free
to roam the 33-acre wildlife
sanctuary where wildlife and
nature are protected and hunted
is not allowed. Most of the sanc
tuary is natural woodlands, with
wetlands in the back just teeming
with nature. Candler Creek bor
ders the property on the south.
“The creek is like a miniature
Hurricane Shoals with an ex
panse of flat rock,” says Jones.
“Guests can idle away hours in
one of the swings or the ham
mock, or picnic in the arbor. The
serenity here is captivating. Just
watching the critters or listening
to the birds is so relaxing you
just don’t want to leave.”
Guests arrive to continental
breakfast foods and beverages in
The Lodge along with a dessert.
“All is not rustic, however,”
adds Jones. “Luxury linens are
among the amenities, as well
as books and games for guests’
pleasure. Flatrock Mill is a won
derful place for a vacation away
from or close to home. It’s also
a beautiful location for private
events such as family gather
ings, picnics or weddings. A
wedding on the flat rock in the
creek could make for a ‘rock
solid marriage.”
In addition to The Lodge, the
Grand Room in the main house
can accommodate parties up to
100 people and is ready to sched
ule fall and holiday events.
“We also want to have a fo
cus in the art world,” said Jones.
“The property is perfect for art
and craft shows or art and spiri
tual retreats.”
Rates at The Lodge are $175
per night plus tax single or dou
ble occupancy.
“Select dates are going fast,”
Jones stated,” “so we are encour
aging everyone to call for reser
vations.”
