drop. It runs over a ridge
line and then stops.
It is now five o’clock,

where it dropped and
found no blood, but said
he knew he hit it.
In the morning, they
will look for it. Joe toss

One excited hunter
W e told, in last week’s
story, about Len Camden
and his bear.
This week we have a story
about one excited hunter with a
big buck.
The hunter is Joe Rinckey, Len’s
son-in-law, who lives in Gaines
ville. Joe, who is also a fishing
fanatic, was able to get away for
a couple of days in November and
head up to Virginia to hunt with
his father-in-law.
It all took place just before darkness was
to descend on the mountainside.
Joe was hunting above Len, when he
saw two does come out in front of him.
Joe was right in anticipating a buck fol
lowing them.
Some forty yards behind the does was
a buck, a big buck, moving at a fast pace.
Joe hollered out, “stop, stop.” The buck
pauses, trying to locate
the source of the sound.
That moment of hesi
twenties, so the meat would still
be good. Len went down one side
of the mountain looking for the
deer. All of a sudden, he hears a
scream from up above, “ I got him,
a beautiful buck.” Joe describes
him to all on their two-way radios.
Then, while still on the mountain-
top, with his cell phone, Joe calls
his dad in Florida, his brother who
was guiding out in Nebraska, and
everyone else he could think of.
I would be excited too with
an eleven-point buck. That buck will be
hanging on Joe’s wall when he gets it back
from the taxidermist.
A great job, Joe. Congratulations.
